HELP everybody. I'm looking for the tablature of Mick Taylor solo in LOVE IN VAIN on the record GET YER YA YA'S OUT! Thanks Benedetto from Italy bmandolini@katamail.com
As far as I know Mick played normal tuning (Mathijs?). And the solo differs from show to show. Sometimes he didn't even play bottleneck. Get Your Leeds Loungs out for instance.

You can listen to what he is playing and try to do the same thing.
Just listen to every note and try to understand the solo yourself.
The solo's in the books are often not near what the original guitarist is playing. They just do what they hear, and you should do the same thing.
On the solo from GYYYO, he detuned his high E-string to D. Brian did the same for LRR. I doubt Taylor tuned his whole guitar to an open-G for that number. When you drop your E-string down to D, you're 2/3 to open-G, so you have to be careful if you're going to the lower strings. If you drop both E-strings to D (double-drop D tuning) that's the tuning Neil Young uses for a lot of stuff (Cinnamon Girl, Ohio, etc...).
The reason I brought up the standard tuning issue was its more difficult to play slide in standard concert tunings then in open and thats what taylor does on LIV on LAG .
