HS is one the 2-3 redeemers on an otherwise poor album - ASMB is a dog on a decent album. No contest.

Harlem Shuffle as is but i think Anybody Seen my Baby would of been great with less production No Rap etc. If it was a raw sort of production Ah what could of been. Keith felt that way about a lot of B2B songs. Gunface Juiced etc.

I've played Anybody seen.. with my band.
our singer asked " well - who's gonna rap ???"
the rest of us agreed with " just skip that crap" - so we did.
it works great with out that part. the audience always liked it, I loved it.
I also love Harlem Shuffle, but I never played it with our band.

ABSMB by a mile

fantastic guitar coda at the end by Waddy Wachtel is the best thing on the entire album.

Harlem Shuffle...by a few miles...why even compare?

fantastic guitar coda at the end - yeah Gazza,
thats where we lifted off quite often. two guitars just jodeling in solo mode, but in a dramatic way.
because of that, the song could grow to an 8 min. version at some gigs.

Definitely Anybody Seen My Baby?. Harlem Shuffle is so much more boring, and it's not even their song, or is it? ASMB has so much more edge and grit to it. I'd almost be embarrassed to play HS infront of friends, but definitely not ASMB.

you're out-voted by a mile, Gazza - please turn in your critics badge - and don't let the door slam on the way out....

I also prefer Anybody Seen My Baby over Harlem Shuffle. I think HS is possibly the worst first single from an album that the Stones have ever released.

Hmmm...

I love the "Harlem Shuffle" 12" and think it's some superb Stones, but "Anybody Seen My Baby" gets a bad rap from people who don't have any imagination when it comes to the Stones.

Anyway, don't you think that "Love Is Strong" is in fact the worst first single from a Stones album?

i'd take harlem shuffle to knock out asmb in 3 rounds.

Emotional Rescue has that dubious honour sewn up long ago. Theres no serious contenders.

Harlem Shuffle's a decent enough track (although I prefer the Bob & Earl original) and was a good choice of single for that album. ASMB wasnt as strong a choice as a single (there were other BTB songs that would have been more suitable) but its a better record.

I'll always stand up for "Emotional Rescue." It's one of my alltime favorites: Sexy and funny simulataneously, with some fine work from Wyman and--I'm guessing--Ernie Watts on the sax. I love Jagger's lyrics and singing...

Maybe it's my (relative) youth. I was too young to be listening when the record came out, so I didn't have to digest it in the moment.

I love putting together mixes with something like "Let It Bleed" or "Mona" right next to "Emotional Rescue" or, for that matter, "Harlem Shuffle." That range is part of what I love about the Stones.

Hell, if we're reaching back for bad singles...

"Angie" is way worse than either "Harlem Shuffle" or "Anybody Seen My Baby" and maybe worse than "Love Is Strong" as a lead single.
