The Stones wives & girlfriends inspired great music.....

Jimmy Miller made some great contributions.

Jimmy Page's solo on One Hit To The Body was fantastic. Sugar Blues harp on Miss You....on and on...

Sugar Blue's contribution on "Down In The Hole" is also remarkable!

This one fits into both categories: helpers and hinderances . . .

Amyl Nitrate - Percussion, Marimba as credited on EOMS

Anyone ever notice that Jagger gets a credit for "lighting" on Aftermath?

More seriously, someone who's been forgotten/ overlooked so far in the thread but is a sentimental favorite of mine from childhood, Jack Nitzsche on the mid-sixties albums.

I mentioned Jack Nitzsche higher up on this page!

DGA35,

So you did. I did say he was overlooked . . . I didn't say by whom (me :0 )

All apologies for my poor reading habits.

For me is Nicky Hopkins, just imagine Back of My Hand or the whole ABB album with Nicky adding pianos

BTW, Jack Nitzsche produced in 1963 the first single by Merry Clayton (It's in his kiss) she was only 14 years old!

what I never understood about the Stones decision to insert that little bit in Flashpoint was why they didn't insert it just before PIB! Wouldn't that have made more sense?

This may appear to make sense to you or me, however, the Stones don't ever wish to create the impression that just because some fan (or group of fans) makes a request to change the setlist that they'll oblige. I mean, c'mon, you can't expect them to be per_sway_ed by their fans to play material other than they had previously decided upon.

Paint it Black, you devil.

it was just a lark, camper - and if they're just having fun with this thing, why not go all the way. totally disagree that it was done intentionally to steer fans away, as you say....just another missed opportunity to get it right, IMO.

We do not wanna forget the song "And Mr Spector And Mr Pitney Came Too" - Phil Spector did some guitar weaving and Gene Pitney is credited for percussion.

Nicky Hopkins is the greatest, Bobby on a few songs but also Billy Preston (his playing not his stupid act onstage). Billy P. on Gimmie Shelter live Buffalo 1975, Nicky on Gimmie Shelter live '72 (and everthing else he played on).

Most popular answer:

Nicky Hopkins (by a wide margin)

Jimmy Miller

Bobby Keys
