Just listened to a boot version of this recorded in the spring of 74. And while I have never paid much attention to this song before it has really grown on me. The music is a little sparse but it really picks up steam at the end. Mick's vocals are very good with some ragged Keith harmonies that only Keith can do.This is one that should be on their coverlist. It would be fabulous in the 9 or 10 spot. I would still rather have an extra Jagger/Richard song but if they gotta do a cover I think this is one that would really involve the crowd. So lets all put it on our wish lists and maybe it wil get consideration for the winter arena tour.
Just remember its a cover; people tend to forget that. Made by Dobie Gray; one of the most covered songs among those that Stones have recorded (yet never released).
Wonderful with the Stones; have to admit I´ve never heard the original.
Dobey Gray's original is still my favourite, though I really love the Stones version of this song as well. Both are much better than Uncle Kracker's version, in my humble opinion.
Ride like the wind at double speed.....
