ZZ Top is another band that does the VIP/photo/meet and greet, and more often than not I've heard it was a lame experience.
They don't talk and are basically just mannequins wheeled out for fans to pose with, and immediately whisked away.

The Aerosmith meet and greets are nothing new as they have been doing this for years. Last tour I think the cost was $2500.00 which I believe included tix in the first 10 rows or something like that. There used to be pics on the Aerosmith website and Joe Perry looks miserable having to pose with fans. Rarely smiles. I have read he hates those things.
Of course he could always say no. Tommy Lee and Neil Peart refuse to do them.

No doubt Dan but maybe the $$$ is too good to turn down. Not sure hoe many of the VIP packages they sell but if they sell 10- 20 of them at $2500.00 a pop that is an additional $25K- 50K for about an hours work if you can call it that.

Steven Tyler Demands Trump Stop Playing Aerosmith Songs at Rallies
"As we have made clear numerous times, Mr. Trump is creating the false impression that ourclient has given his consent for the use of his music, and even that he endorses the presidency of Mr. Trump. By using “Livin’ On The Edge” without our client’s permission, Mr. Trump is falsely implying that our client, once again, endorses his campaign and/or his presidency, as evidenced by actual confusion seen from the reactions of our client’s fans all over social media."

Good on Steven for re-upping his "cease and desist" demand that cites new legal grounds to do so. Tough not to get political on a topic like this, but purely as an artists rights issue this is not one that's not relevant to the stones.
They played "Sympathy for the Devil" at the event yesterday, ironically.
Hope Aerosmith prevails.

I always cringe when Trump finishes one of his rallies with "We will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!", the crowd goes wild, and then the choir in "You Can't Always Get What You Want" starts singing over the PA. I guess he means "You get what you need" but it sounds weird.

My point simply is I don't care WHO the President is...he's not on any special plane of existence above "us mere mortals".
If an artist asks a politician to stop using their song (licensing fees or not), it should be common courtesy to stop, but that clearly doesn't apply to the petulant ass-hat occupying the office right now.

I did see them do Mama Kin on Fallon, I last saw Aerosmith back in 1999, but now I'm thinking about seeing them in Vegas next year.

Yeah, not sure how saying someone has a "groveling, obsequious, boot-licking attitude" is less offensive than your replies.
But politics has a tendency to bring out the worst in certain people, especially from the extremists.

More politics?
Wasn't this thread supposed to be about rock music and a Vegas residency?
False advertising!
Politics brings out the worst in people because it brings out the worst people.
Losers with low self-esteem who think they can enlarge themselves through a group identity.
May as well talk about pro wrestling.

I saw them in '88 and they weren't very good (Guns'N'Roses opened and pretty much stole the show), but wouldn't mind seeing them again in a small Vegas venue despite not really liking them since the '70's.
Not sure how much of the latter era stuff they play live, but imagine if they did like the Stones and mostly played songs that are four decades old and a blues cover.
Rocks is probably my favorite of those early albums, but all of them up to Night in the Ruts had some great tunes.

Interesting as we must have seen different shows back in 1988. I saw Aerosmith twice in 1988 with Guns opening at Mansfield, MA and Axl's voice was shot to the point where he was croaking out his vocals and the band was sloppy while Aerosmith was very good and tight.

Yeah different shows - I saw them at the Pacific Ampitheater in Costa Mesa, and it was the exact opposite. Being that it was towards the very end of the tour, Steven Tyler's voice was shot, and the band seemed like they'd rather be back home licking their wounds. Meanwhile, Guns were just getting warmed up in their career - still hungry, wild, and full of energy - a complete explosion on stage that left Aerosmith gasping in their dust.
