Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep - one of the most irritating songs songs that I have ever heard. By Middle Of The Road in 1971.

Probably. It could have been a charming bagatelle if it hadn´t been for the horrendous guitar. I once talked to an engineer who worked on that album (it was recorded in Sweden, at Polar Studios), and he just laughed when I whined about Jimmy Page´s sloppy playing.

At the risk of being kicked off this site... Anything that John Mayer has ever put out.
I agree with the previous comments about U2 as well. Anything that they have ever released as well.

There was also that awful REO song (I am almost sure it was them) "heard it from a friend who ... heard it from a friend ..." I've smashed a few radios over that one too.

Yes - that was absolutely horrendous!
After a couple decent '70's rock songs(Roll with the Changes, Ridin' the Storm Out) they turned into a fairy tale Tinkerbell band writing sappy love songs.
Has there ever been another band that had such a drastic change in direction for the worse?

Agreed. I can't believe he settled with that take.

YES! That & Freeze Frame were on MTV continuously back then and both irritating to my ears!
Although I remember they started playing a Peter Wolf song, I Need You Tonight which I liked a lot, it has a cool twangy guitar sound with a catchy synth.
