There's also these two Stones-related releases:

The End - Introspection / Retrospection

Exclusive to RSD2018, this deluxe edition of British psychedelic group The End's classic album Introspection, paired with Retrospection, an LP of outtakes from the album sessions (issued briefly onvinyl in the mid-90s). Pressed on heavyweight 2LP transparent vinyl, and featuring a gatefold sleeve including artwork by legendary designer Phil Smee, including photos and ephemera, and a note by founder member Colin Giffin.

In 1965 The End arose from the glowing embers of the earlier Tuxedos, Innocents and Original Topics, and like many of theircontemporaries evolved into a psychedelic group. Subsequently they re-invented themselves as blues rock outfit Tucky Buzzard in late 1969. Along the way, they won the support and patronage of the Rolling Stones' Bill Wyman, who in 1968 produced their solealbum for Decca, Introspection , the first LP in this set. Wyman also co-wrote their signature tune, the psychedelic classic Shades Of Orange , although the band wrote all the rest of their material. This is limited to 1000 units worldwide.

Nico - I'm Not Sayin' / The Last Mile

I'm Not Sayin'' was the first original single release by Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate Records in August 1965. Written by Gordon Lightfoot and produced by Oldham, the song features a haunting vocal by Nico, backed by beautiful orchestration arranged and conducted by David Whittaker with The Rolling Stones' Brian Jones on guitar with Jimmy Page. Two promotional films were shot by Peter Whitehead, one featuring Nico wandering through London's West India Docks in 1965, an area long since changed. The song was chosen by Morrissey as a Desert Island Discs choice on BBC Radio Four. The gatefold sleeve features photography by Gered Mankowitz from the original recording session. The original b-side 'The Last Mile' was a co-write between Oldham and the-then Immediate Records' musical director, Jimmy Page. Even as early as 1965, the multi-talents of the future Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin maestro were apparent: as well as guitars, Page also produced, arranged and conducted the song.

In my remote part of the world (Japan), I managed to get the vinyl of Lou Reed's Animal Serenade (3 LP) which sounds exceptional. [recordstoreday.com]
As there was nothing else really interesting (for me) I also grabbed Beggars Banquet (DSD remastered version), not a RSD release but it happened to be the "clear vinyl" edition... You never know what you're going to find on RSD.

Anyone who grabbed an extra copy of the Gene Clark/Wrecking Crew EP? Seemingly, no norwegian record store made it a priority for RSD...

Thanks to the Record Store day, Their Satanic Majesties Request is back on the UK chart by first time since 1968.

The album is back at #90 selling 1,200 copies, it didn't chart last year when it was re-issued.

The original UK chart run for TSMR:
UK Date: 20/12/1967 - Run: 23-7-11-*3*-5-6-10-12-13-17-15-29-33 (13/5-4c wks)

In the UK Top 200, the Stones are also charting with Hot Rocks at #172 and Blue & Lonesome at #195.

3500 was for the us splattered edition.
after some extra research i found uk had 2500 pcs - so the hitparade numbers made sense. i can imagine there were at least another 2000 copies for the rest of europe.

I think there must have been quite a lot of copies of Their Satanic Majesties Request for continental Europe. My favorit record store in Berlin still has around 10 copies of the RSD release lying around and I still see them at the other participating record stores as well.

The 3D lenticular image on the sleeve is cropped on the RSD 2018 edition (1 cm is missing on all the sides).

And the quality of the lenticular image is far from the original Vari-Vue one.
It was not easy to find The Beatles on the 1967 cover, on the 2018 it's OK for Harrison, we can "imagine" Paul and it's impossible to see the two other ones.

Lame job.

So what's with all these new versions of TSMR? There is a new one due out at the beginning of June, which is a single disc, and not the RSD version.

What gives, they just did the ultimate package of mono/stereo vinyl/cd a year ago?!
