IMHO, the intro of Rough Justice ist the second best album opener ever. The first second it graps your attention and after 6 or 7 seconds you're wide awake and anxious to hear more....a lot more.

Can only be beaten by SFTD on Beggars Banquet. Very difficult to remember the first time hearing it but the intro of sympathy graps you and holds your attention and makes you curious how the song (and album) is going to develop. Very different sensation as with RJ but also very strong

Aren't you forgetting the opener for Sticky Fingers? Brown Sugar? Perhaps better? Probably the best opener ever? But ok: Rough Justice is a great opener.

RJ just bores the daylights out of me. I burned a copy of the album sans RJ, IWTL, DB, SOL and TPIE. Opener is SSMC - also included LMT, KYTL and DS from 40L. I like this configuration much better than ABB.

I would argue RJ is a tie for worst opener along with Sad Sad Sad.

Hot Stuff and Start Me Up are a few more.

I'm not talking about the song itself, but the first 5 seconds. You put on the album and...............BANG. Can't get enough of it
I saw it when it was played in the pub I frequently visit. A lot of people are not real Stones fans. The album was put on and immediately you saw the heads swinging approvingly (is this proper English)

Gimme Shelter might be the best album opener of all time!

It should be the opener on the tour, scrap SMU.

Rocks off is the best ever, but Rough justice has them back in the same zone - amazing. I just started posting here today, and Im amazed by all the negativity expressed here. Im also an acdc fan, and if they were half as active as the stones most folks on the acdc sites would be creaming themselves. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Rough Justice is a really strong opener - just like many Stones songs before :-) Really. Take Paint It Black, Let's Spend The Night Together, Sympathy For The Devil, Gimme Shelter, Brown Sugar, Rocks Off, Miss You, Start Me Up, Undercover Of The Night, One Hit (To The Body), Love Is Strong, Flip The Switch and Rough Justice and you get a best of. Just consisting of album openers!

rough justice is a great openner. definately one for the books. most stones albums have a killer beginning though. i forgot all about lets spend the night together.
