Now that I've visited Copenhagen, some Stones questions

Happy New Year!

My wife and I were invited to spend the New Year's Holiday with friends in Copenhagen.

It was our first visit there, and we very much enjoyed Nyhavn, Rosenborg Castle, Tivoli Gardens (stunning with the Christmas lights and decorations), the Torvehallerne, Amelienborg Palace, and much more.

(Not so excited about the Little Mermaid statue, though. Sort of a "well, isn't that nice. OK, where are we going next?" kind of thing).

Also, tasted a lot of great beers from Mikkeller, Julius, Bryggeriet Skands, and, of course, Calsberg and Tuborg.

My Stones question for new friends over there:

I know they played there recently. Where was the venue? Where are some other places in Copenhagen that the Stones have performed? Did they get over there for any club dates in their earliest years?

Skoal!

THANKS SO MUCH, Irix!

Did you make it to some of those shows?

They held the press conference when they lounched the European Tour in 1973 in a strip club in the town Espergærde - 30 kilometers north of Copenhagen - the club was called Eden Club. Adress: Strandvejen 390, DK-3060 Espergærde.

There is a youtube-clip from the press conferrence here:

I visited the house a few years ago (the strip club is long gone), it's a nice big house with view to Øresund.

Two danish authors have described the event in some way:

Morten Sabroe in "I svinets hjerte"

and

Jan Thielke in the druggy long poem "Ånden er over os" (the chapter "En slags dans")

Only the latter two - via Liveblog / Livestream here on IORR ....

Apropos Little Mermaid: inspired from the RS' Manneken-Pis-Poster in 2014 [iorr.org] I did a similar one with the Mermaid: [iorr.org] .

Why did they play some many shows in Denmark and so few in Ireland (with approximately the same population)?

Copenhagen is holy ground for me, especially D'Angleterre in Nyhavn, it's there I shook the hand of God on 6th of august 2007. Haven't washed it since!

Copenhagen No Filter 2017:-

Where's that video in which Mick adresses the audience, saying they rented some bikes, biked out to Christiania, smoked a lot of weed, then had some ... (here follows something in Danish, I believe), and then ... took the limo back.

Anybody's got the link please, or knows before or after which song this address can be found?

What I am particularly curious about, is what kind of Danish food or drink it is that Mick apparently mentioned. Maybe a Danish fan can help.

Cheers

NB: I don't want to hijack this thread, but think this is a suitable place to ask this question.

EDIT: syntax

Thanks a lot Irix.

And anybody's got a clue what's that Danish food or drink or whatever Mick mentioned they had?

By the way -- you should know what you're doing if you visit 'Christiania': [en.Wikipedia.org] , (in German) [www.Spiegel.de] ....

The thing he claimed to have eaten is hindbærsnitter. It's a cake with jelly, frosting and tutti fruit sprinkles on top. Seen here: [snitten.dk]

Thanks for the clarification -- I've always understood "Himbeertwitter" .... winking smiley

Wikipedia knows 'Hindbærsnitte' also as 'Alexandertorte' -- [en.Wikipedia.org] . See also: [www.Facebook.com] (Hindbærsnitten).

Raspberries.

Not if you're a poor man. Then it's strawberry jam at 10kr per glass.
I like the tast of them, but it's funny how only bakers seem to get the taste right. I've a had many home baked ones, and they never hit that sweet spot.

hindbærsnitter

Wow! Thanks a lot JumpingKentFlash! That all gives sense.

It is amazing what you can learn at IORR!

So now I know what I'll try if I'll ever come to Copenhagen.
