Sad news. I had a school girl crush on David Cassidy, loved The Partridge Family for a fleeting time.

Sad...hope he pulls through.

I watched the Partridge Family in the early '70's - especially after school reruns along with Gilligans Island, the Munsters, etc.

I always did like this tune:
The Partridge Family 1970 - 1974 Opening and Closing Theme

If you were born between 1962 and 1966 the partridge family definitely touched you in some way. Cassidy was an icon in the early 1970's. I wish him well.

If you where born in 66 you would of been 4 when the first episodes came out. Umm noo. More like 1955 56. You would of been a young teenager then. A teennie bopper. That was Cassidy's fan base. Where do people come up with this stuff. geeeeez

Jesus, this is relentless. Here is a gem where I believe it is Susan can hear the Stones after dental work: The Partridge Family 1x16 Old Scrapmouth.

Very sad to hear this. I can recommend his book "C'mon Get Happy : fear and loathing on the Partridge Family bus." He comes off as a likeable, talented guy who quickly tired of the teen idol scene and tried to be taken seriously as musician. The Partridge Family became an albatross he couldn't shake.

Most fans of the Partridge Family were in elementary or middle school, not high school. So, yes, four or five year olds may have been into the show, especially if they had older siblings. High school and college age people would not have been watching a cute family show with mostly little kids playing bubblegum music. David had to embrace that part of his career later, but he was slightly ashamed of it at the time.

David Cassidy was embraced by pre-teen/teeny bopper girls. My older sister was born in '61 (me '63), and she and her friends loved David Cassidy. As for the tv show, I liked Laurie (Susan Day), the two young ones, troublemaker Danny, and momma Shirley who reminded me of my own mom. I always thought the David Cassidy character was more like Greg Brady - not very hip or cool at all, and a bit of a sissy.

Sad news. Loved the partridge family as a kid - even owned a cassette tape of
one of their albums. He’s had his share of challenges as an adult. Hopefully he will recover from this one.

The Partridge Family Theme Song:

Hello world, hear the song that we're singin'
Come on, get happy
A whole lotta lovin' is what we'll be bringin'
We'll make you happy

We had a dream we'd go travelin' together
And spread a little lovin', then we'll keep movin' on
Somethin' always happens whenever we're together
We get a happy feelin' when we're singin' a song

Travelin' along, there's a song that we're singin'
Come on, get happy
A whole lotta lovin' is what we'll be bringin'
We'll make you happy
We'll make you happy
We'll make you happy

These are the theme songs that never leave your head if you grew up in that era. Hoping for the best for David.

I remember in 1979 or thereabouts when he was going in for a bit of drama acting, he'd be unshaved, and I, who was looking forward to shaving (I was 12 going on 13), would just think how he wouldn't have much to shave; a can of Barbasol or Edge (better still because he was going for a few days without a shave) would last him for months...

I was born in January of 1965, and I owned a Partridge Family lunch box and collected the trading cards (they were packaged like baseball cards with the same crappy gum) when I was a 6-7 year old. They were a big deal with all the kids my age. Same as the Jackson Five, the Osmonds, The Sylvers, The Banana Splits and H.R. Pufnstuff. Wonderama hosted by Bob McCallister was a show targeted to the pre-pube demographic, where you could catch all the cool new kid-pop acts.

Hope David is not in a lot of pain and is able to feel the love and appreciation of his family and fans.

My sister was born in 1960. I was born in 1956. I wouldn`t have any of that, David Cassidy, that is.

I can remember it still, Friday night at 8:00PM was the Brady Bunch followed by the Partridge Family at 8:30.

What kind of stands out to me is that both David Cassidy and Malcom Young were diagnosed with Alzheimer's in there 60's. As a 55 year old I don't really see people in their 60's as old.

Every day is a gift and I wish my brothers and sisters here at IORR the best of health and happiness.

I think David Cassidy was my first crush - I was 9 or 10 when the show aired. Sad news. Wishing him well.

thumbs up

Pretty sure I had the lunch box at one time also! My friends and I used to have lunch box demolition derbies where we'd slide them across the ground and slam them into each other - only the strongest lunchboxes survived, but being as all were metal in those days everyone was a winner (give or take some scratched and banged up boxes).

As for Wonderama, you probably remember this ditty which helped keep us all in shape - a few minutes worth of exercise a week!!! smiling smiley

I do remember "Does Anyone Here Have an Aardvark" as a song from childhood, but only found out a few months ago that it was by Bob from "Wonderama."

Another David Cassidy memory is that he was known for posing nude in "Rolling Stone" and talking about his drug use. It was done right after the show was cancelled.

Why wouldn't we be able to say she was/is gorgeous?

I know you're being facetious given all the terrible sexual assault/harassment stories in the news, but there ARE ways to give people compliments in a non-creepy way.

I was born in June 1965...sounds like we had the same childhood interests. Wasn't a big Partridge Family fan, but always hung around for it on Friday nights after the Brady Bunch. Wonderama was fun. The Banana Splits were very cool (still remember their theme song). Didn't like H.R. Pufnstuff, but dug Lidsville!

Wishing David comfort and peace during this time.
