On the B2B tour they played the most wanted song by the audience. Love is Strong won the vote. Should there be such a chance again, I would suggest Winter from the Goat`s Head Soup album. There are many good ones there.
That's what the Stones need to do again imo. The ol' internet audience song voting thing. It kept the set list fresh by playing different songs that were polled.
If Mick can sing "Fool to Cry" or "Moonlight Mile" (as on recent tours) there is no reason the Stones can't do "Winter." They should break it out in Montreal in '06. It's too bad it's buried so deep in Goat's Head Soup...alot of "fans" won't know the song at the shows. I don't think they'll ever play it.
Winter is a great song,I would love to hear it live. There is a superior version still featuring Mick T ,but with Carla Olson on vocals. The guitar solo is much longer than the 73 version.Check it out.
Winter is one of the greatest Stones ballads. Don't think it is unheralded at all. Everyone knows this; except maybe the Stones. Maybe it is just too much "Taylor" for keith to agree. MT's solos and overall sounds do reign supremem on that one. It did blow me away when they did Moonlight Mile though. Those Netvotes did at times seem a little too appropriate. ceratin songs just...fit the city or date too much to be true voting results.
