OK - just woken up in Hamburg and am pinching myself to make sure I didn't dream how great that show was. Here's Dancing With Mr D from last night.video: [youtu.be]

Sorry not to be around last night (unavoidable family commitments). Glad to see that those who were there had a good time - I love Sympathy as a spectacular opener, and anyone can guess how delighted I was to hear Play With Fire...
In the absence of periscope (what was that about? Did someone pull a switch somewhere and kill mobile reception? Can anyone who was at the show enlighten us?), here's a YouTube of Dancing With Mr. D:

An absolutely brilliant Stones experience. It poured with rain all day in Hamburg but Keith brought that to a halt with a wave of his magic stick
So myself, DP, Robber Bride, Silver Dagger, ErwinH and his brother, ManofWealthandTaste,Steinschlag and friend decided to while away the hours with a few 'refreshments' in a bar in the Reeperbahn, which helpfully played Stones Music and videos to get us all in the mood. When the rain stopped we made our way up to the park, where we were joined by Wild Sliwowitz to make a 10 strong gang of mostly IORRians and only entered around an hour before show time. We still managed to secure a decent viewing and listening spot.
There's not much I can add to what others have said about the song count, show length and setlist, all of which were simply phenomenal, as was the band performance with all members in good form. Sympathy was an inspired opener and it worked very well. ARound our group we had been guessing what the opener might be and not one of us came up with Sympathy. The whole show has been reshuffled and shaken up with even the warhorses sounding fresher. There was very little first tour night rustiness that I could detect. If you can go to one of these shows, make sure you do, even if Lucky Dipping.
I'm Still on a high, and I will be for the next few days. I'm sitting at Stansted Airport, waiting for my train home (well rail replacement bus actually as the trains are off). I've actually been up all night, having been stuck skulking around Hamburg Hauptbahnhof between 1-4am, as the airport trains don't start until then (well why would they?)
But I don't mind one tiny bit of that relatively minor aggro - it's ALWAYS worth it for this incredible band.
As an aside, security was far less thorough than I expected with just a vague pat down and my guard even indulged in friendly small talk about my home nation of Scotland. Someone who really wanted to sneak in a camera probably could have done, though I didn't risk it. There was, of course the obligatory hanging stench of weed, which, as Wild Sliwowitz said, was 'business as usual'
Hope all the rest of you guys got/get home OK and I'll see some of you elsewhere on tour.

This version sounded terrible. Keith was struggling with the opening, couldn't keep up and having problems hitting the notes throughout, and even worse, the sax was awful. The sax solo was the worst I've ever heard. They really miss Bobby but this guy is bad.
Absolutely Nate! SMU never a fave until Vancouver 2006 - walking back from the front row to our seats, seeing ear--to-ear smiles on hundreds of faces - doesn't get much better than that!Quote

My nephew just text me to say he was blown away with the concert, his mates also.
Amsterdam can't come quick enough.
One of the things I get the most joy from at a concert is seeing the look on people's faces who you can tell have never seen the band before and they are having one of the best nights of their lives.

what a setlist! hope they keep the 22 songs.i just dont get why keith insist on playing those terrible lead parts. give it to ronnie - its really embarrassing.
and they should speed up some songs a bit.

Short review. THIS WAS AMAZING. What a great setlist - never complain again! So many auprises and really a lot of energy from Ron and Mick. Keith seemed distracted but the sound was overwheling. And the screens are jus aweseome!
-> what happened to Keiths pants?

Bump... Anyone notice Keith's pants when he went up to do his spiel before his songs?
