OT: Has anyone seen Tina Turner?
Posted by: Send It To me ()

Since the end of her '08-'09 tour has she just completely disappeared from public life? Any interviews, appearances, etc.? One of the few musicians I can think of who has really "retired" - who else has totally retired?

When I see this thread now I can't help thinking of this tune from Dion.

Tuna Turner for that matter...
I was down the docks today and saw a ton a tuna if that helps.........
I saw Ike buying pike... And he had bass.

and it was right about that time... a fight broke out at the local chip shop

And Tommy Tune and Charlie The Tuna were right in the middle of it...
but Tina was nowhere to be found... love may have had something to do with it...

I meant to get to Nutbush... but never did.... I was going to try to look her up...
Now all I can do is... CRANK THIS UP!! Tina Turner - Nutbush City Limits - Live in Rio 88

PS CHEERS TO TINAFREEKINTURNER!!! smileys with beer SHE IS SIMPLY THE BEST!!

If memory serves... back... whenever... she had Mick's assistance in setting up and executing a big time, big money, world concert tour which allowed her to head off into retirement with a big ole pile of money... I am not sure of the details dates etc etc.... But I am delighted for her. Thank you Tina!!!

Saw her in the early 70's with the Ike & Tina T. Revue. That was hot! Especially the Ikettes.
But with that kind of show its better to stop when your body changes with age.
Not everybody can be a Mick.

I tried, and I tried, and I tried, and I tried... but you're right. That fish is still flat.

Cereally, I saw her the last time she came through town, Lisa was on backing vocals and did a couple of Stones songs when Tina went for costume changes, both were great! Glad to have seen them.

Okay okay... There's something about that photo...

Besides seeing Ike and Tina Turner open for the Stones in 1969, I was at Live Aid in Philly in 1985 and Mick and Tina's set was a highlight...

Play that 8 times straight it'll cure any disease; or make sure you're getting one. I worship at the Altar of Rock and Roll. Even befo the guys changed my life.
This is kinda why I think. I need it like food or air. This is pretty authentic. There's something on the line. Everything. That's all it takes. Everything. Hungry and hurtin' and/or on some special kind of fire to even try to arrange something like this. Maybe the most important husband and wife in the history of rhythm and blues and rock and roll. If you had to judge my taste outside The Rolling Stones, guilty right here.

Can you believe Tina acing out Ronnie Spectors big vibrato and blowing her own head-off at the same time? Ike's horn arrangement; The whole thing is one thing. A missile. I love it. Poor Tina. What a Dilemna!!
Songwriter?

Classic case in some ways. Beatles too, in some ways. Lennon thought so in many regard and said so. By the time they get 'there,' they are already super peaking somewhere along the way. JB stuff on Federal. This stuff on Sue.
Rockman the way experto here, not I, but I have this thing for I & T early-on. I'm sure Michael Phillip was in on the fun. They were about to do their first shows; Ian and Brian were picking up M&K, the rhythm boys on the way. All older than the rest too. Love me that real rock and roll. I don't even know where rb sorta kinda stops and rock and roll sorta kinda begins, and I'm all over that period like a hungry lion all my life...that may be the point in a way.
