When I originally was building The ATTIC, I was basically using a variety of cut-and-paste procedures that I don't even remember... Control-clicking whatever on Photobucket website, or looking at source-code of a page (I don't really understand all that http nonsense )... looking for the phrase "jpg" or "gif"... Pasting that sh1t into a text editor; blah, blah...

So recently, after all the Photof_uckit photos were disabled and I decided to rebuild The ATTIC, I noticed something odd. I noticed that one particular GIF was still displayed normally. Upon examination, I noticed ~original in the address!

Recently when you typed:

... that would generate the obnoxious error-picture :

The LOOPHOLE (for now)... Just add the term
~original
after the IP address as shown below, just before the final [/img] tag.

Thanks for your explanation above schillid, as expected, it all sounds confusing to me even though you simplified it as much as possible.
Also, I never had a signature pic, and rarely post pictures here, but when I do I use another source to store and copy image location from (shutterfly).
I do have a photobucket account from years ago though rarely ever used it, but that didn't stop them from sending me a recent email regarding the changes.


*That said, maybe it's best to keep the loophole somewhat undercover, because if the demons form photobucket find out that could be the end of it.

Would it not be a whole lot easier just to use ExtraImage.net ??

I very rarely post images but,it seems like a quick simple solution without all of the hassle.

regarding the importance of keeping your own ( "local" ) copies of your important files and pictures; don't delete your ~original files, do not entrust your important stuff solely to cloud storage, especially a free service; etc.



Bumping this thread... PhotoF_uckIt eliminated the ability to embed images on 3rd party sites, like iorr ...

For now, this trick (my ~original loophole) gets the photos to re-appear. Try it... It's easy!

Photobucket third party hosting seems to be working again for free accounts.
Lots of old images are displayed fine as before.

Funnily enough, I stopped in today because I finally have time to start the long "~original" process -
and it isn't needed except for a couple of photos I had to re-post. But I feel poised to do it if and when :E

It was good news when Photobucket rescinded its policy of foisting a $400 yearly extortion subscription plan on people who uploaded millions of images to their free platform. Happily, users' photos that were blocked then reappeared.

However recently, some of my images on PB began showing a Photobucket watermark.

The good news is that the ~original loophole described above appears to remove the watermark. Shhh.

It was to be expected that they'll replace the already uploaded pictures by a generic icon (like Photobucket) ....

Photobucket sucks and belongs in the trash

It's important to keep your own ( "local" ) copies of your important files and pictures ...

Don't delete your ~original files ... Back 'em up.
