I just managed to get the DVD "Return to sin City" (Gram Parsons Tribute Concert). Absolute amazing performance by keith doing lead vocals on love hurts; joined by norah jones doing a wonderful duett. keith, also performing "hickory wind", at his best. a bit strange but nevertheless first class is also the final with the all star band doing "wild horses". any opinions about that ?
yea i thought it was great - interestingly some reviewers and others have actually panned Keith's performance as being very ordinary, and have questioned either him being there in the first instance and the choices of songs he performed.
...and even after this a lot of people will tell you Keith can't sing! This performance is top notch imo. Really emotional... the vocals blend in together. A great song, a great performance for a great musician. Hickory Wind isn't too shaby either though.
its a genuinely fantastic performance by Keith - the most priceless bit is when he shoots Norah a quick look, then leers at the crowd afterwards like the randy old goat that he is
Great performances by Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams as well
