Laugh I Nearly Died
Date: September 11, 2005 19:15

MICK's voice sounds so beautiful on this song that when I heard it for the first time, I almost cried. I think it's the best heartbreaker song I've heard since Thats How Strong My Love Is on Live Licks.

LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH I almost cried. anyone else lovin this tune as much as me???

I think it's tied for my favourite song on the album along with Infamy and Rain Fall Down.

This is by far the best song on the album. It's ambition works. Very interesting layering of background vocal tracks. The best lyrics and performance by Jagger. The only thing I could do without is the Colin James 'Why'd You Lie?" guitar pattern. It sounds almost sampled. Colin opened for them before, so I wonder if this was subconsciously nicked.

BKB,

Yep, One of the best songs on the album.

Rank,

You're right the ending really works. I wish they'd have pushed it even farther, it's one of the things that makes this a great choice for doing it live.

Poor,

CJ's been imitating the Stones for awhile now, why not imitate him back? He's pretty good with a guitar.

One of my favorites here, along with Let Me Down Slow, Won't Take Long, Rain Fall Down, and Dangerous Beauty . . . at least for today. Driving Too Fast is growing on me, too--almost Some Girls like.

I'm actually listening to it at this very moment and it's very interesting thus far. Jagger's singing is great! Way to go Mick!smiling smiley

Amazing that Mick sings as good at 62 as he did at 22. At least, maybe he sings better now.

Nice song, good build, good lyrics.....but sorry, vocals just too stylised and manicured to be emotionally convincing. (Just another song, admittedly of high-calibre, which belongs on a Jagger solo album).

Keith's numbers are emotionally convincing (because he does 'sing' from the heart) - pity they are not such strong songs.
