I saw them for the first time at the Anaheim shows (or should I call them the "shoes" -- inside joke if you were there). I remember a banner celebrating Mick's upcoming birthday. He was turning 35. My God, that seemed so old and over the hill to me at the time. Way too old to rock and roll.

I was at the Buffalo show on July 4th, one of the few stadium shows that the band was 'on'
the '78 tour the band never seemed to gather steam.
there would be a couple of good shows and then a couple of not so great shows.
the concerts were also getting fairly mediocre reviews in the press partly because Bruce Springsteen (who was touring the Darkness on the Edge of Town)had played the same cities in the previous weeks was putting on marathon 3 1/2 hour concerts that blew everyone away.
