Who are rock's top 5 all-time frontmen? Here's my picks:

Mick Jagger
Angus Young - He may be a guitarist but imo he's also a damn good showman!
Steven Tyler
Jim Morrison
Freddie Mercury

Honourable mentions:

Robert Plant
Axl Rose
Eddie Vedder
Bruce Dickinson
David Lee Roth

This should get REALLY interesting! lol smiling smiley

- Jimi Hendrix
- Jimmy Page (I actually think of him as Zeppelin's frontman, perhaps as of around '73...)
- Mick Jagger
- Jim Morrison
- Ian Anderson (some corny gesturing, but he's never boring to watch, if you enjoy the music of course)

Choosing powerful frontmen shouldn't have to do with musical taste only so:

add: Prince (he is great), Robbie Williams, Tina Turner

Liam Gallagher (etablished the arrogant, not moving style)

Just his Boston 93 show, you will be convinced.

A couple names that I forgot:

Elvis Presley

Scott Weiland
Roger Daltrey
Liam Gallagher

Mick Jagger
Michael Jackson
Tina Turner
David Bowie
freddie or Elvis, can't decide!

Any Tina Turner fans who haven't got Barcelona 1990 need to get it. Her voice is so raw it hurts and she's got the audience in her hands the entire show.

is this an actual list of "top frontmen" or just "singers with my favourite bands" ? Some of these choices are very bizarre to say the least

If its the latter, its pointless

Otherwise, try this lot :

Elvis
Springsteen
Jagger
Michael Jackson
Prince
Sinatra
James Brown
Freddie Mercury
Jerry Lee Lewis
Little Richard
Bob Marley

Of recent acts, only Robbie Williams comes close. For all his faults, the guy can work a crowd.

Charisma and the ability to inspire a crowd goes a long way. Whether you like their music isnt the issue. In that respect, Elvis was untouchable

You're 100% right! He is a super one on his own! Very warm with the audience and expressive as hell!

A list of "top 5 frontmen" just isn't complete without Anthony Kiedis of the Chili Peppers and Vince Neil of Motley Crue...

I'd add Mick Jagger, David Lee Roth to the Top Five ... can't think of anyone who's really in same league, or have quite as much "star power" as these four... Jim Morrison was probably close in his own way.

Jagger
David Lee Roth (1978-1984) Absolute best frontman from the hard rock/metal genre. Saw him 3 times with Van Halen (and 4 times solo), when they were definitely the biggest American rock band.
Angus - ironic people list Bon when the reality is when he was alive, AC/DC weren't that popular. Back In Black launched them into superstardom. Still, after finally seeing the early AC/DC vids from Family Jewels, I'd list him, too. Is the lead singer or guitarist the frontman? Similar sort of situation with Zeppelin.
Jim Morrison
Steve Tyler
Springsteen
Bruce D - Maiden is one only a few,Lizzy being another, where the bass player also has a huge presence on stage!
Freddie Mercury - ruled Live Aid!

I've mentioned this previously, but I don't understand how Robbie Williams or even Kylie Minogue are so popular in Europe because they're not very popular in North America. I don't know any of Robbie's songs and have never seen any of his videos. I've seen a couple of Kylie's videos but I remember her most from singing The Locomotion years ago.
