I'm going by someone who just sings, does not play the occassional guitar, harmonica, etc. Please do not laugh at my choice...my vote goes to

Bruce Dickenson from Iron Maiden

If you do not understand my choice, find a DVD of them, turn down the sound and put on your favorite record to replace the audio.

Actually, if Axl Rose hadn't been such a drama king then he MAYBE could've gone done as one of the greatest frontmen in rock history. But GN'R fizzled out and then that was that. The newest line-up of musicians that Axl has is NOT GN'R no matter what anyone says. Other then that, I'm loving everyone's choices for their top 5! Way to go guys 'n' gals!smiling smiley

Hey Trainarollin, I mentioned Bruce D also!! Saw Maiden first time in Vancouver 1982 opening for Scorpions. Crowd rocked. Bruce said it was the closest audience that he'd heard yet to remind him of their hometown and I truly believed him. Only around 4000 in the PNE Coliseum but everyone was stomping their feet and cheering loud.

We all know that Axl Rose is ridicoulus, but he was a fantastic frontman. I`ve seen GN`R one time and I loved it. I also got some bootlegs and they were NOT an ordinary band, they where much more. I agree with stones89, it don`t exist a band named GN`R in my world. They died in 1995.

About "only" singers:
Mick
Freddie Mercury
Bon Scott, after having watched Family Jewels, deserves being in the list

But:
Springsteen must be here, too
I see Jimmy Page and Pete Townshend even more frontmen than their respective vocalists.
