What a blast from the past. VR was one of the very first VHS tapes I ever bought after buying my first VHS players! If I recall, VHS tapes were initially very expensive. I remember paying around 60-70 dollars for some of the first tapes I bought. The price soon came down...(Loved the Mick in glass case / Bill as security guard bits in the tape!)

I remember renting this when it came out and making a copy with my friends vcr.

Hilarious bits with Bill and Mick in a living 'Rock Museum'.

On the plus side, it has uncut versions of 'She Was Hot', 'Too Much Blood' and 'Undercover'.

On the negative, some vids are cut short; they 'fast forward' through parts of '@#$%& Blues'; and cut a sloppy live montage of 'Brown Sugar'.

Definitely an 80's VHS oddity.

If I recall, Bill is the security guard in the precursor to Exhibitionism!

I remember when it came out in 84. My friend had video store membership that iirc cost about $300 to join just for the privilege of being able to rent one of there videos. LOL.....

My favorite part was when Keith looks into the camera at the into to 'Start Me Up" and says "Hi Mom "....classic

I hope that this indicates a re-release on DVD!

I do (of course!) have a DVD transfer from my old VHS tape, but a clean (cleaned up) copy would be most welcome.

Yes I still have my original and have transferred to DVD. I love the bit at the end with Norman Gunston - "Mick Jagger, Mick Jagger, I've loved him ever since he was in the Beatles!"

They haven't made any good videos since the UNDERCOVER videos huh.

Well, Harlem Shuffle is the exception.

I think there are many differnt videos from the Stones :
- Live-shot vids
- Small movies feat. the band (She was hot, Love Is Strong...)
- Small movies without the band (e.g. the awesome Like a Rolling Stone by Michel Gondry or the awful one for Don't Stop)

In each decade, there are some good ones and some less interesting ones.

Love Is Strong is probably my all time favorite video. But JJF comes close, only missing the slick production, and better song of course.

I remember my initial thoughts about the Don't Stop video was, "Oh God, the Stones are so old now they don't want to show themselves!" Don't know if that really crossed their minds at the time. I was glad to see them just playing the song in D&G.

I have the very same story with 25x5. When it first came out I didn't have a VCR, so I went to a friend's house who had it and he rented the 25x5 VHS and made a pirate copy before returning the tape. Years later I bought a VCR and I traded that pirate copy with him and still have it, although I don't own a VCR anymore.

Now that we are in the high definition age, I find it almost impossible to look at anything on videotape. It's hard to believe that at one time we thought that VHS "looked great." We suffered with conventional video (NTSC/PAL/SECAM) for about 60 years!!!

Thank God in the Sixties a lot of stuff was shot on film. For Video Rewind, if they can find the original video, probably shot and edited on Betacam SP, then with a bit of digital enhancement it might be quite decent.

The shtick in the storeroom in the British Museum is hilarious. And I marvel at Bill Wyman's forward thinking sitting at an "imaginary" personal computer that slices through video like a proverbial hot knife through butter. That didn't exist on a conventional PC at the time, you had to wait 25 years for that to become a reality! Bill Wyman bought one of the very first Apple I computers as soon as it came on the market.
