I got a big review plus diary (Writing it since Aug. 24th) coming up soon. I just bought the album today. Best track is ONNYA IMO. Followed by BOMH and RJ.
"Rough Justice" ain't no "Gimme Shelter," (and what the hell else is, really?) but I sure get a big dopey grin when it comes through the speakers in the car.
"Back of My Hand" is the one that lets me know that they can still be the coolest guys alive. In centerfield at Fenway Park...with Woody sitting on the drum riser, until Jagger called him to the fore? I was blown away. A great recording on "ABB."
I'm struggling with a lot of the rest of this stuff ("Look What The Cat Dragged In?" Ha!) but the old bastards ain't done yet...
The fact that so many different songs are picked as best songs shows there are not many lows on this album. I myself couldn't pick one or two best songs, there are a lot more that are really good. I think they really made a fine album. It really doesn't make sense to compare it to Sticky Finges or Exile, I mean that is more than 30 years ago and it simply was a different band then. But compared to the albums of the two albums of the 90s it's at least the same level as VL and BtB, maybe even better.
