Hendrix's albums and singles alone kinda do make it the most interesting year!

A crazy explosion of inspired innovative creativity!

Pink Floyd as well.

Not quite on the same level though.

And this is coming from a man who doesn't much rate the Stones after Brian Jones died? Say no more.

Blind Faith... hardly a great album.
Low spark... a very dull and uninspired affair compared to earlier albums.

All albums by Genesis, Yes, Deep Purple and The Moody Blues. grinning smiley

What is «level»? The album is fabulous. Love the Experience-albums, though.

Most interesting? Perhaps in the sense of it could be viewed as a transition year: a good album by the Stones (BTButtons) and their second to worst album ever (TSMR); The Who THE WHO SELLS OUT, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Cream, The Doors...

Fortunately the Stones made their 1967 releases irrelevant with one song:

Jumpin' Jack Flash.

Put down the crack pipe. grinning smiley

From BEGGARS onward they got really damn good. The less Brian Jones was involved the better they got, hence why LET IT BLEED and STICKY FINGERS are their best albums. Yeah yeah Jones is on BB and LIB - with next to nothing significant on a total of 9 songs, just a few of which he played acoustic guitar. Hell, his guitar contributions were practically nil - he played guitar on one song on TSMR.

So that's why 1967 is easily forgotten because of Jumpin' Jack Flash (yeah yeah, Jones plays guitar on it but you can't even tell).

You are very misinformed and appear to be suffering from some kind of delusion.

The Rolling Stones were amazing from the very start and, all things considered, remain so to this very day.

PS: Brian, most likley, doesn't play any guitar on TSMR.

Phil hasn't got much else to do today but get up to his old tricks and try to wind people up which is sad in itself. Pity because I quite value his comments and devotion to Brian Jones. Repent Phil, repent. >grinning smiley<

According to Bill, Brian played acoustic guitar. If so, he must have played on the Philips cassette recording along with Keith and Charlie.

Another thread which presumes to define something as though fact, but ultimately consists of posters giving their varied opinions of taste without ever arriving at a concrete, objective consensus. This thread might have been more aptly titled "1967 - Your favorite year in rock history?"

But in the spirit of things, I will contribute with two examples of what I find these days to be the most interesting music of 1967, two songs no one on this forum have ever heard before by two artists no one here has ever heard of.

In 1967, Dusty Springfield, the most interesting female soul vocalist England ever produced, released a remarkable and diverse collection of songs (Where Am I Going? in the UK and The Look Of Love in the US), one of which is Welcome Home:

Link to Welcome Home: [www.youtube.com]

As for the most interesting and soulful male vocalist, I would say that honor goes to U.S. singer Scott Walker, whose vocal group The Walker Brothers released the album Images in 1967, with one of the A-sides from the album being Stay With Me Baby:

Was it even called Rock music in 1967?

Very good question! When was the term "rock music" first used?

Rolling Stone considers the emerge of the song Satisfaction as the original birth hour of rock music.

Dusty and The Walker Brothers were in the Top Charts on the radio in 1967 and from both I do have vinyls.spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
