Not me. Aside from some compelling music VERY early in their history, Chicago impresses me as one of the blandest AOR bands ever.

CNN is showing the Chicago promo even more often than these Plastic Recycling PSAs (aka Pair Of Most Annoying Commercials ever)...

Had to look it up. Never even thought about it. Stupid band, horrible horrible music. You're right - that stupid song... here's what it means:

Maybe a lot of people are into them? I just thought with everything going on in the world, that I agreed with the OP, and maybe we could all use a Chicago (the band) bashing thread. The commercial is very annoying. I think it's because Chicago (the band) keeps singing that series of numbers with an "or" in the middle over and over again.... Nobody knows what it is. But in the commercial it's built up to be a big crescendo:"9-0-1-2-6 or More"? Stop repeating that over and over again. Horrible tv ad. Maybe the band is bigger than I realize. I don't know.

A good opinion. Cutting edge doesn't necessarily equate to good quality. Nothing I've heard from them has been interesting or good. Either hippy noise (the early stuff, which is slightly "interesting" strictly in the context of their entire career) or cheesy schmaltzy horrible ballads.

ive got a couple live albums'71 '72 and they are great, if u just heard about Chicago for their latter yrs. you would be shocked when u listened to this, and Chicago has history, they had member die playing Russian roulette, they have a ex lead singer who thinks he was Chicago and wont even show up at the rock n roll fame ceremonies and play. one of the best guitar solos ever terry kath 25 or 6 to 4

Their first 3 Vinyls I got and their first: Chicago Transit Authority is my favourite album with The amazing Guitarist Terry Kath. In 69 and early seventies they were always on the radio and in bars, the cover of I'm A Man is great.

I admit that in my old age I've developed a fondness for even some of the Peter Cetera stuff, but if you ever find yourself at a "rock" concert, and you're sitting front row center, and there's a guy standing directly in front of you playing a trombone, just do yourself a favor and get the hell out of there.

My brother shared this with me cause he loves Chicago. He told me that he read that Jimi Hendrix said Terry Kath was a better guitarist than him. I don't know if Hendrix really said that, but I don't think this isn't half bad.

That Chicago was/is a big band among baby boomers is not fake news. It's good for advertising revenue. They were among the leaders in the wave of bands with brass sections that came along in the late '60s and '70s. It was the revenge of the marching band nerds.

CNN probably has the best looking newspeople and the best makeup artists. They're good with their own presentation of the news. People look tired like I do on MSNBC. CNN has really taken over. And the Chicago "90219" thing, whatever that was...it felt like a bad ear-worm and made me want to change the channel. So, that was a marketing misstep. I'm tired of CNN. Btw Great thread idea! lol

saw an interview once where charlie said he loved the drummer, danny seraphine, thought the band was really hot. they were good, too, that's why they were so popular in the '70's.
