The iorr-thread about the 1976 "tent"

http://orangecamp.dk/Eng/html/history.html

"The story of OrangeStage or The Canopy Stage as its also called go far back. Actually all the way back to 1976, when The Rolling Stones needed a stage for their european tour.
It was a man named Bill Harkin that made the design of the tent and without his knowledge created what later on would be the icon of Roskilde Festival through all theese years. And by our opinion one of the most characteristic and beautiful rock stages in the world. (Before and later on he designed other tents and stages, and still does today).

When the drawings was complete he needed to test the design. Just as when we build our tent he chose to start with a scale model. He was building a full size rock stage so he chose a size for his scale model that is actually pretty close to the full size of our tent. This model was complete in the early spring 1976."

It's a shame being too young to have seen them on the brilliant lotus stage. It's fantastic!

Indeed.

And touring musicians beware, some people in those parts can get really worked up about that distinction. It was funny/smart last year when Mick was back at Arrowhead he made a big deal about him knowing that were different, I forget what he said, but is was funny.

I understand many artists often say the wrong thing on stage depending on which side of the state line they are on in that area and some local folks will start booing if/when they say the wrong HELLO. Maybe if KCMO had not named them self after another state it would not be an issue. grinning smiley

But anyway... that 1975 show from Arrowhead is really fun to listen to. I think it is called Sure the one you need after a song on a Ronnie album, and it is/was one of the few times a song from a Ronnie album was played live by the Stones... or something like that... please dont rant too hard if those details are off a little. My main point is Jaggers stage banter from that show is really fun to hear.
