I can't believe some of the rubbish posted here in this thread.
So that's what some people here think would make an ideal Stones Blues Album.

Please offer something better...smiling smiley

I would consider Jump On Top Of Me, Little Baby & I´m Gonna Drive to be Blues too. Where are the real experts to tell us the truth?

And you would be wrong. The obvious thing is if you consider those blues songs then basically everything the Stones ever did is blues. Then why not just change the title of the thread to "Ideal Stones Album".

I'm very curious of what you consider those songs to be. Rock? Pop? Soul? Country? Reggae? Folk? Jazz? Ska? Swing? Rockabilly?

Do you think they aren't based on the blues because they ignore the 12 bar formula?

There you go. Based on Blues. If they are blues songs then can you go through Stones albums and tell me what songs are not blues songs?

Explain to me why Break The Spell is not a blues song?

Love in Vain.

Love in Vain.

Will surely be dismissed as a cover of a country blues tune...

I asked a better question. Name the songs from Stones albums that are blues songs. Obviously you are going to have to list just about everything based on your opinion of what a blues song is. Then why is this thread here. Then it should be what is the "Ideal Stones Album"

All of those songs are blues songs, but you could say that Tie You Up falls into other genres too.

Dear guys & friends,
I’d like to get your renowned attention, opinion and contribution in collect an “ideal” blues album “collection”.
Early ‘60s cover albums excluded, I’m talking about gems like:

Sister Morphine
You Gotta Move
Ventilator Blues
Dancing With Mr. D
Fingerprint File
Hey Negrita
Down In The Hole
Slave
etc.

More or less obscure tracks are welcome, as I Wish I’d Never Met You, Fancyman Blues, etc

Thank you all!

some of those songs are not blues forms. there is a codified series of forms that are blues. chord changes and rhythms apply. get yourself a few Muddy Waters records and enjoy

I couldn't make one without including Love In Vain and Little Red Rooster.

Also the posted lists don't include No Expectations ... Revise immediately!

The last 40 years - Stones and blues!!!

They need a guitar player that can play real blues.

Ronnie or Keith play real blues?

I can do that, but it would be a list with hundreds of songs.
