Great work, 1962thumbs up

I want every song they played to get an official release, that would make an impressive box-set.

Great work, thanks! Shows that all of our setlist grumbling is somewhat unwarranted--84 different songs across 91 shows is pretty damn good imo. It's unrealistic to expect bordering on 50% rarities at anything but a club show.

As others have said, the percentage of rarities of varying degrees at each show is probably pretty close to reflecting the percentage of the audience with a preference for same. I think that the band figures it's roughly the same number of "die-hards" who appreciate the deep tracks at each tour stop, and that when it's a stadium show you're simply adding more "greatest hits" fans compared to an arena show, thus watering down the percentage of the crowd who want the deep tracks. This belief, if true, has been reflected in the setlists: the arena shows in 2012-13 had significantly more variety than the subsequent stadium shows.

stats may well be spot on, but it dosent hide from the fact that on a typical stones gig, which usually is 19 songs, 16 or 17 will be the same most evenings. 2 or 3 may be rotated, but of those 2 and 3, some of those will reappear soon after in another gig, how many of those 94 songs were played more than twice during the 2012-2016 period. i doubt very many.

This is a true statement - but that is the beauty of following the tours from afar via YouTube. Cherry pick the rarities, and best versions of warhorses - make your own playlist and enjoy.

Great job, thanks for that list, 1962. thumbs up

Although everybody knows that they'll play the same 16 or 17 songs, sometimes a single song can turn a concert into something very special, like Ruby Tuesday in Porto Alegre or Can't You Hear me Knocking in La PLata this year, for instance.

Nice work, 1962! But in my opinion your categorizations want some finetuning.
Why are Live With Me and Bitch listed as "rare"? and Streets of Love "not rare"?
Discuss. :E

I am impressed. Not only by the effort of making this list, but more so by the variety
they provided through these last tours. It did not "feel" like they played that many different songs,
but it's good to be proven wrong by the facts.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

On a sour note I think the music is secondary nowadays on a Rolling Stones concert. It's only a soundtrack to something else: The nostalgia, the merchandise, the celebrity factor or perhaps someone's bucket list.
What we have is a band playing hits from half a century ago when half of the audience wasn't even born. And in a very boring and repetitive way I might add. Like spoonfeeding ...

Great Work 1962 !! I love list like this, and I'm suprised that they have played so many as 84 different songs on their concerts since 2012, when you have read the set lists the last tour it haven't been that many different songs.

Re: List: 54 of the total 84 songs played on 2012-2016 tours :you can call rarities

great work but look at this.

84 different songs played over 91 shows and the band is constantly working together

2015 the remaining members of the grateful dead got together to celebrate the bands 50th anniversary. they played just FIVE shows. all sold out to huge crowds

Over the course of the five shows 81 different songs were performed not including "Drums" and "Space" which were each performed every night. Only two songs, "Truckin'" and "Cumberland Blues", were repeated.

so the rolling stones who didn't have a founding member pass away in over 40 years, play together more, played 86 more concerts, etc only managed to play 3 more songs than the dead played in 5 shows

i meant i don't think they do. ticket sales aren't going to drop if they play 11 warhorses and 8 lesser known tunes a concert. they had no problem in 1981 playing 7 new tunes or so a show. people still came

Great work. A bit of "loaded statistics" in the sense that it gives the impression that the Stones live set is incredibly varied. But a closer look shows 16 warhorses. With their set being roughly 18 songs, and you get the true picture that you spend hundreds of dollars on a show and see potentially 2 songs that are not warhorses (and possibly not even "rare"). Fine for the average fan, but for the die hard who've seen the stones multiple times and are bored by just seeing warhorses over and over again....well the proof is in the pudding....

1. I think it's "extremely rare" that anybody or a die hard fan complain after a Rolling Stones show nowdays.

2. But the die hard fans nowdays can listen to 84 different Rolling Stones songs (54 rarities) playing live by their favourite band on Youtube or other not too bad quality bootleg recordings. So "if you try sometime you might find you get what you need"
