According to Graham Nash, CSN are officially over. His given cause is David Crosby's apparent inability to get along with the rest of the group, years after having pushed Neil Young out of the group with his behavior.

From all accounts which I've read Croz just doesn't seem like a very nice person. A shame, makes me even more glad I got to see them live 3 years ago.

That is sad. You'd think he'd be a little more grateful about what he has going for him after having survived so many health scares. It's a shame

honestly who cares. they haven't released new music as a band in years. everything now is archive material or live releases. the members do studio stuff outside of the band. stills has his 2nd album with the rides due out in a few months. nash has a solo album due out in april. crosby just released a new studio album a few years ago and has 2 new studio releases set to be released within the next 20 months. all 3 are touring these projects. every member is over 70. it will be 2017/2018 before they even have time to focus on CSN

Has anyone checked if Vegas has posted the over/under odds as to when the "Reunion Tour" will be announced? 2018 would be their 50th anniversary and best opportunity to milk the ol' cash cow...

It makes not a blind bit of difference for me. Stills and Young are a great guitar team, and Nash is a great vocalist, but Cros is a dork; always has been, and that goes as far back as The Byrds. Just listen to his dialogue with Michael Clarke on the reissue of Notorious Byrd Brothers.

That said; If I could Only Remember My Name is a classic album.

Overrated, egos, drugs, hype, self important.
Neil Young is the only one of them with any original and enduring talent, imo.

You have to wonder, is Crosby using again? After reading Nash's "Wild Tales" and the story of Crosby's drug use, it's a wonder Croz is still alive. And Nash stood by him and for him through it all.

For being together so long, their total discography of new material is lethargic at best. 1969-1999...8 studio albums (and that's giving credit for those with Young). Almost as many (or more) best of compilations....

I don't think that Crosby is using again, but I think everyone is fed up with the fact that he can't keep his opinion to himself. The rift between him and Neil was solidified when Crosby criticized Young for getting divorced after many years and dating Daryl Hannah. Now that Nash is getting divorced after many years, I'm sure that Crosby gave him an earful...

Graham Nash seems to be quite the gentleman and the most level-headed of them all - David Crosby must be a total dick!!!

yes

just my opinions of course.

-obviously check out the new rides cd when that's released since you like the first one

-all 3 career spanning boxsets are a must purchase as they have rare,unreleased, alt. mixes, etc. some really great stuff on there and if you don't own every album by these guys its a nice overview. the only glaring omission on any of the sets really is Crosby's is missing a version of "drive my car" which was a hit for him on rock radio. other than that anything missing is just stuff fans wanted to hear that was long rumored

-csny 1974 is a must buy.

-graham nash songs for survivors was really good

-pieces by stills is great. its like a lost manassas album and is better than the bands actual official 2nd album.

-croz is also really strong

-the new nash should be really good as most of the songs were played live recently and I liked them all


outside of that most of the stuff is covered well on the boxsets so if you pick those up no need for anything else from that list really unless you want a recent stills live album or need more demo's from CSN


if you don't get the boxsets though you need to get the newest Crosby and nash duo album and stills man alive. if you get the boxsets though pretty much every strong song from those 2 releases are featured in some form

Thankfully, music is timeless. A good record can put you back into the year the music was released. One thing the baby boomer generation has that no other can claim is great music.

A simple song like "For What It's Worth" or a 70's pop song like "The Night Chicago Died" can bring me back to the kitchen table when I was a kid and my parents listened to the radio on those summer mornings with the widows open.

Some great music from these guys for sure. I don't know much about them but my impression is that they are in the same mold as the Rolling Stones. Yes, we are flushed by the Stones back and touring but if we put that aside for a moment, my guess is that CS&N just get together to milk the name when they want to, otherwise they are independently wealthy and barely even know each other.

They did Suite, Judy Blue Eyes, just that one song makes them immortal IMO.

While they made some of the greatest hippie music which I love, collectivily they are among the biggest hyprocrits of the entire 60's movement. Feeding their ravanous tastes for drugs and decadence on the back of an anti-war movement while brandishing firearms and crack pipes with a sense of entitlement. Crosby born with a silver spoon in his mouth is the most dreadful of the batch. I once saw Stlii's manager shoot speed into Steve's eye whites. Yup they are glamorous.
