Is this thread about drummers who THINK they're the best? :-)

lmfao, I think you might be right. I'm with pepganzo, Richie Hayward (RIP) is my all time favorite drummer.

But since you are a great drummer Erwin (your drumming is actually my favorite part of the IORR project, real nice work) I'm curious what your opinion on Michael Lee (RIP) is. I discovered him after seeing Page/Plant play a couple times and the guy was just fascinating to watch. Really simple kit and super animated. I don't know what it is about his drumming but I love it! In case you haven't heard him here is a video of him playing When The Levee Breaks with Page/Plant. He's driving the bus here, imo. Thanks.

Here's some history: The Golden Earring toured the US with The Who, Rush, Santana and Aerosmith!

I saw them in the UK supporting Bob Marley! grinning smiley

On topic--John Bonham/Charlie Watts, after them the field.

I must admit I didn't know his name, I'm not really into Page/Plant.
But his playing in this video is very very good. He rocks and doesn't play too much. Love his breaks.
He's not riding, he sure is driving this bus!

Thanks Erwin, I appreciate your opinion, one which I definitely share. The guy really had something special going on, not your typical drummer. He worked with The Cult, Echo and the Bunnymen and Thin Lizzy too but it was his work with Page/Plant that drew my attention. Visually and musically a real treat to watch and hear.

Joe Morrello, a fantastic and innovative drummer. Every song on Dave Brubeck's Take Five has fantastic and soulful drumming on it. The guy would drop his brush and pull out a handkerchief from his pocket and brush away. Beautiful drummer.
