OFF TOPIC: Barefootin'

The title of this 1965 hit by Robert Parker has me asking this question: would you imagine Jonny Lang and The Rolling Stones duetting together to this song? The reason I bring up Jonny Lang (he was the opening act for the Stones' two Portland, OR dates at the Rose Garden Arena in January 1998) is because early in his career, he played his concert dates barefoot (he ceased doing so by the time his third album was released, citing among other hazards nearly being electrocuted). I also know the Stones' horn section could excel real well at this.

The stones have always been more of a shoe oriented band. For this reason, I'd have to say no to barefootin'.

Johnny Winter covered it 1991 with some blazing slide guitar.

There are added benefits to barefooting actually. With all the electromagnetic energy floating around in our modern world it is a good way to ground the body and shunt all that energy into the earth so it doesn't hang around where it doesn't belong. I have no idea what effect all these wireless and stray signals have on our physiology but it can't be good and the difference between what the average person experienced decades ago vs. today is HUGE.

To address the OP concerning Jonny Lang, I've seen him perform several times, can't remember if he was wearing shoes but one thing that really stood out was the tightness and extreme competence of his backup band. I'm not sure the wobble that is the Stones would be a very good fit for him. LOL

Keith has lovely feet and has been photographed barefoot many times. There is a video somewhere of a concert in Rome, I think, where it's pouring down rain and Keith is on stage with bare feet.

Perhaps a new thread is needed...Keith, man of few shoes. grinning smiley

Mick has nice toesies too.

Pete Townshend did a live version of it back in the mid 80s.

So does Joss Stone...I don't think I've ever seen her wear shoes onstage.
