French fanclub not that positieve about new album
Posted by: Jagiero ()

Seize titres qui oscillent entre le rock fougueux efficace (Rough Justice, It Won't Take Long, Oh No, Not You Again) et celui sans intérêt (Dangerous Beauty, Driving Too Fast), le funk à la sauce Jagger solo, indigeste (Rain Fall Down, Laugh I Nearly Died, Sweet Neo Con), le blues à la John Lee Hooker, magique (Back Of My Hand).

The first impression leaves an ambivalent feeling. Big his of guitars kind "j'casse the shack to show that I am there", low rhythmic mixed battery very forward, extremist modern production and very fouillie, in the line of the rock albums of the young p'tits of today. To the listens certain titles, one evidently thinks about "Bridge To Babylon", but also to "Dirty Works" and "Undercover".

Especially for the inspiration, unfortunately not always to the appointment on several titles, this that leaves to glide the doubt as for the creative magie of the tandem jagger/richards, thing that was already tangible on "Voodoo Lounge" and "Bridge To Babylon". Sixteen titles that oscillate between the rock effective fougueux (Rough Justice, It Won't Take Long, Oh No, Not You Again) and the one without interest (Dangerous Beauty, Driving Too Fast), the funk to the sauce Jagger solo, indigestible (Rain Fall Down, Laugh I'S Nearly Died, Sweet Neo Stupid), the blues to the John The Hooker, magic (Back Of My Hand). The pop pleasant rock ballad (Let Me Down Slow) and the ballads sirupeuses and tasteless (Streets Of Coils, Biggest Mistake). Keith itself some goes out with the honors, its two titles being among the most interesting ones of the delivery. The remainder is, say, banal, without big held and especially without soul.

A "Bigger Bang" to rejuger with a listens more deepened and a little decline, but the miracle, it is certain, will not have place this coup-ci... It is all Bush's fault.

LOL

I think Steven applied some 'artistic licence' with that last line!!

(I love the way the online translator sees "John Lee Hooker" get translated as "John The hooker")

"John The Hooker, magic (Back Of My Hand). "...... seems they don't know what they are talking about..... John The Hooker???

I reject this French appraisal until I am able to hear the disc and formulate my own thoughts ...

Keith and Mick love France ... will this change ... not bloodly likely

It's only 1 review in 1 publication, & I doubt its Frenchness has much to do with it....

I really wouldn't mind the Americans to keep their anti-Franch feelings for themselves. If you want to vent your small-penis frustration please go to the Rocks Off site, you'll find plenty of y0our kind over there.

But it's OK for you to throw in your anti-American digs which you
are wont to do from time to time?
Let's stick to the music, squire (and everybody else reading this).
Start your own blog if you can't keep your bias outta here.

I can´t believe we are back to bashing nationalities..
Do we care about nationality or politics?
Are we not Stonesfans and above such behaviour?

Mathijs, haven't baited you for a while, but since through the years we have all read your anti-American sentiments on this board, turn around is fair play. I mean after all none of us are discussing the horrible bloody racist policies of the Dutch in Idnonesia for many years that ended up with their horrific expulsion. But of course you will tell us sionce that did not occur in the last 50 years, you will insist it does not count. BTW one of my best freinds is a lady in Hawaii with family that rememebers that Exodus, that lived through it and for them, trust me, it still counts.

Anyway, all I need to remember about this review is that the French have honored Jerry Lewis for his Genius, and contary to our favorite Dutchman's opinion, I, as an American born and bred, do not have a small penis.

You're all nuts. There are plenty of my fellow Americans I have no love for (see those who are still dumb enough to support GW Bush)...and I've met many French folks I did not care for. That said, there are plenty of my fellow Americans I like just fine (even some Republicans), and many French folks I've met who were friendly as can be. Bottom line...a jerk is a jerk...regardless of what country they were born in.

Besides, us Americans should still be thankful to the French for helping us gain our independence & build this great nation.

Hey, anti-French posts, no place here.
Anti-American posts or whatever, no place here, I feel.
Start your own blog if you feel that way.
Spare me the "i have a right to say whatever" speech.
As I said, stick to the music, all you hipsters.
I learned a long time ago never to bash anybody's family, religion,
city, state, country, or local pub!
But if it's gonna keep going around here (not that it happens often),
i'll either throw it back at you or go somewhere else.
I do have better things to do than read someone's subtle digs at things.
However, someone's record collection? That's a different story

I agree...I guess I just could not resist baiting Mathijs and I apologize. Its just that its been so damn hard on me to agree with him on most things for the last two years! Really, for me on the board only two things really count:

1) The Music
2) Even tho American , I do not have a small penis ROFLMAO smiling smiley !

you probably don't know, but I am French (webmaster of rockpassion).
well I won't insist on the delightful messages I read from some of you cos it's primary racism...
some people are nice and some others are...different !
anyway, I'm happy to know that some of you do not have a small penis !
that's the news of the day !
