Hopefully the closure will only be two weeks. I heard the UK is set to have another major lockdown to last an entire month

In Germany we have a partial lockdown 2nd-30th November 2020 and Museums are also closed for this period.

Yes.... it's official now. Museums will close for 2 weeks...

"Het Groninger Museum is van 4 november t/m 19 november gesloten in verband met de verscherpte maatregelen rondom COVID-19. We hopen je op 20 november weer te mogen ontvangen, maar dit is nog niet met zekerheid te zeggen. Check de website www.groningermuseum.nl voor actuele informatie over bijvoorbeeld gekochte tickets." - [Twitter.com] , [www.Facebook.com] , [www.Instagram.com] , [www.GroningerMuseum.nl] .

From [www.GroningerMuseum.nl] :

"The museum will be closed from 4 through 19 November in line with Dutch government measures to combat the spread of Covid-19. We don’t yet know for certain whether the museum will reopen on 20 November, but of course we hope to welcome you back soon.

If you have bought tickets (from 4 November), we will refund the money to your account. Refunds will take approximately three weeks.

For up-to-date information on opening times and tickets, visit the website, subscribe to the newsletter or follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Questions? Contact us at service@groningermuseum.nl."

Hi Erwin.

Sorry to hear the Exhibition not going ahead on opening day.

We are on lockdown in England from November 5th to December 2nd.

My holiday in Cyprus for 3 weeks has been cancelled for the end of November.

Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have got their own covid instructions as well.

Let's hope the Stones Exhibition will go ahead as soon as things improve in your lovely country. smileys with beer

I just got this email

Google translation

We have to close our doors for the second time this year. From Wednesday 4 November 2020, the Groninger Museum will be closed for at least two weeks due to the stricter measures surrounding COVID-19. This means that the opening of the exhibition The Rolling Stones - Unzipped will be postponed and you will not be able to view other exhibitions for the time being. We assume that the museum can reopen to the public from 20 November, but we are not sure yet. As soon as more is known about opening hours or ticket sales, we will let you know as soon as possible. If you have purchased tickets for the period up to and including 19 November 2020, your purchase amount will be refunded within three weeks. Do you have any questions about this? Then mail to service@groningermuseum.nl.

For the dutch:

Leo Blokhuis zoomt met Jagger

Yeah, he is the guy who used to say a lot of negative, highly unprofessional things about the Rolling Stones in different "De Wereld Draait Door" TV programs. Pretending to be a music expert, he clearly appeared to be one of those frustrated Beatles fans (I do know quite some great realistic Beatles fans without frustrations) who needed to spit on the Stones.
Apparently he likes to score/slime with Mick, so he can put that on his CV. Clearly fake.
I don't think many Dutch Stones fans will take him serious.angry smiley

In earlier broadcasts on the Stones he didn't notice the difference between Brian Jones and Ron Wood, Exile on Mainstreet and Black and Blue. His overall knowledge on (pop)music is quite shallow and only interesting for music tourists. smiling smiley

From 19 November 2020 until 28 February 2021, Noorderlicht and the Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken will present a large exhibition on The Rolling Stones in the Der Aa-kerk. ‘GIMME SHELTER’ shows work by photographers as well as documentaries, television material and much more. The exhibition runs parallel to ‘Unzipped’ in the Groninger Museum and offers a different view of the legendary band, by presenting a lot of early photography and partly approaching The Stones from a Dutch-Groningen perspective.

I also saw that in Groningen pathe cinema they will show Ole Ole Ole a trip across Latin America and Sweet Summer Sun. So you might complete your visit to the museum with a trip to the cinema.

Last evening Nieuwsuur (News Hour) on Dutch TV gave a brief but very nice introduction to the upcoming Unzipped exhibition. It was probably planned ahead based on the opening day of November 14 (today), because at the end the announcer made viewers aware that the opening was postponed to (hopefully) next week, November 20. This is off course the opening for regular visitors. ErwinH mentioned before that Mick Jagger will officially open the event online in the late afternoon of November 19.

Thanks (dankjewel) Lien. Even if people don't understand Dutch, they do get a nice idea.
By the way, the Shell thing, that John Pasche mentions, was not Mick's idea, but that of Marshall Chess. He made that suggestion to the Stones during a meeting in early October 1970 in the Netherlands. Pasche was put to work right away.

In the [www.Volkskrant.nl] says John Pasche only: "Mick clearly knew what he wanted and gave me two references. One was the Shell logo." - [iorr.org] .

I believe John Pasche. Mick knew what he wanted but the Shell idea was not his.
