Please don't let Ed Sheeran guest on Moonlight Mile
Posted by: donvis ()

Hoping to hear Moonlight Mile is what is making me go to this show. And I am taking 6 guests. I sure hope this Sheeran guy doesn't guest on Moonlight Mile and ruin it the way Dave Mattehews ruined Memory Motel on No Security. Or worse yet that they play Wild Horses so this Sheeran can guest!

Sheeran makes music for lost teenage girls, everyone else thinks he's horrible. What are Stones trying to do by making him the warm-up act, get themeslves new teenage fans??

Sheerhan would be safe, popular choice with many casual fans...not unlike the setlists of our favourite band. I find him blander than low fat cheese but he sells winking smiley

Having this doofus open is not a good idea - you want an opener who is going to start you up, not put you to sleep. It reminds me of when Brooks & Dunn opened in 2006...it was a bad idea. I don't care about listening to a leprechaun sing lullabies.

Hey, so does low fat cheese!
You know what doesn't sell...non alcoholic beer...what is the point of that crap.
Is Ed like NA beer?

They're having Ed on first because they know he is pap and he'll make them seem even more gloriously organic and loose compared to that "low fat cheese" (wonderful description!).....

It's going to be hard to beat Buddy Guy as an opener and a guest. He was the perfect fit for Stones fans. As I think someone had stated on another post they should have had him for all the dates.

<<What are Stones trying to do by making him the warm-up act, get themeslves new teenage fans??>>

You mean "What is Mick Jagger trying to do...?"

Since Mick refuses to record a new Stones album, the only other way of bringing in younger fans is through opening acts and special guest duets.

But which begs the question: Why would younger fans pay the most expensive ticket price in the industry just to see their favorite artists playing a short set as an opening act?

Firstly, would you want the Stones to record a new album that appealed to younger fans (in general)? I can kind of imagine how that would sound and I'm not sure it's the best idea.

I've also wondered about how many fans would pay Stones prices mainly to see the warmup act and I've come to the conclusion, not many. But if they were sitting on the fence it might persuade them and if their parents were going to the Stones it might make for a decent family outing (with Dad footing the bill of course) grinning smiley

I will never understand anyone liking Taylor Swift, especially in performance. Her eyes are dead and her voice makes me want to smother myself with a pillow whenever I hear it. In my opinion, Ed Sheeran is loads more talented than her, some of his lyrics actually show some depth to them and he plays all his instruments live with no backing band. I may not like his musical style, but I do respect him as a musician.

I own no Taylor Swift music, but I guess I'm not passionate as you are in my disdain. Ed seems great and a lovely voice.

Haha, probably just because most people my age (20) are mindlessly sucked onto the TS train and it annoys me as a music fan.

well, I have to applaud anyone that can be successful in the music business, that can write and play her own music. I don't happen to like the music mind you, but I appreciate she's 'made it' on her own terms.

Also nice to see her bitch slap Apple Computers.

I have nothing against Ed as long as he doesn't guest in a Stones song. But I listened to the Dave Matthews Memory Motel the other day and it really pissed me off. What a pretentious crappy performance!!!

Yes, but Stefani is nice to look at. Swift is about as exciting and sexy as boiled cabbage.
