Thanks open-g - the x sends me back to Twitter?? And then what?

It sends you back to the link you posted. [twitter.com]
refresh that and choose another scoper.

The X just takes me to a periscope page with (apparently defunct) other windows.
That twitter page relms posted (thank you) is coughing up new links but only after a delay.

I know people are posting links in the live threads, but I'm hoping for instructions that will teach more of us
how to find new feeds quickly to post for people. We can't all wait for someone else :E

Smile: I believe the x sends *you* back there, because that's where you started from?
It sends me lawd-knows-where - I think it's a periscope page of people I've followed, but only some of them,
for some reason, and I still don't know what to do to refresh on my phone.

I told you I'm techno-impaired!! :E

Well, it's also a matter of practicality, relms:
On my computer I can have several windows open at once,
but that doesn't work so well on my phone, so when one stream ends
I want to X directly back to somewhere with a clear and prompt list of new streams,
preferably one where I know what to do next, you know? :E

I guess I need to enter the fray via twitter instead of via the periscope app -
that way the x should take me back to that "rolling stones periscope" list.
It's disappointing that new links don't appear faster there, but now that I know I have to expect that,
I can tolerate it better - this first time out I thought I was doing something wrong.

I also felt unexpectedly bad for the heroic Melody - I sure hope she managed to enjoy the show
despite her weary arms and not feeling like she could dance! I kept wishing the guy who seemed to be with her
would man the phone for a while so she could have some fun

i'm confused.
it's so easy on the periscope app
you just zoom in on the city where they are playing and it lists all the broadcasts of the stones concert.
where are you getting stuck?

Lets hear some pros & cons about Periscope.

it's live and you can only watch it again for 24 hours (if that has been set beforehand) if not, it's live and then gone.
it can cut out and lose the signal.
navigating is appalling.
likes, are displayed as bubbling, floating love hearts. geeez, why not have some unicorns sprinkling some magic rainbows
other peoples tweets pop up on the side of screen, which is quite distracting.
maybe there is a way to turn them off, Idk.

YouTube can be a hit or miss but usually it is far better, quality wise.
and you can watch it again.

what's your take?

I don't know how to explain where I'm getting stuck
except how I already have, Turner.
I enter the periscope app on my phone
and there are four different tabs.
I don't know which one to use to "zoom" to the city,
or how to "zoom", so detailed instructions
would be very gratefully received!
Also for refreshing that list after "zooming"
In case it makes a difference, I'm using an android phone
not an i p h o n e

I will be more than delighted to as soon as someone tells *me* how to zoom around!
I felt really stymied this morning, until the gallant Melody came back.
I'd been lookin for her high & low like mustard for a ham :E

And my dear open-g, I have some views about the pros and cons you've raised,
but I vote for launching a separate thread about them, so that this one can be about instructions

i see, i have an iPhone, it may be different.

on mine if i click on the 'global list' i can choose between "Map" and "list"

if i click on "map" i see a map of the US.

i can use my finger to move around on the map, and i can use my two fingers to zoom in or out on a location. so i can zoom in on nashville and click on a red circle which then will list the broadcasts. to refresh i click somewhere else and then back on nashville.

i hope that helps!

My dear with sssoul,
this is one technical Off Topic thread that BV probably won't mind to have.
Opening a second one, will either have it merged with this one, be deleted, or have the OP banned.
so ... I'll stick to this one. sorry.
You want to know more about Periscope and how to use it? ... witch I'm also new to.
then, lets gather more information and keep reading here.

thank you Relms, for your insight.

cheers

I have gone through all 3 pages and no mention of Internet Explorer browser.
I tried periscope for first time this morning for #WestEndLive which is held in Trafalger Square this weekend. I find a periscope live link but don't get any audio or visual.
It says 'For video, please use Chrome,Safari or Firefox' .
So I am assuming it is not compatible with IE. Any ideas or do I just download one of those three browsers to use it ?

I'm sure it helps everyone with an i_Phone very much indeed!
I couldn't get my android app to search for new feeds easily or quickly.
I'm not sure that's my ineptness or the app's.
It was mighty fine once the gallant Melody came back and stayed back,
but it was really frustrating trying to search for new feeds when she wasn't available.

That bold bit is the only idea I can offer. I use Firefox very happily for everything.

Yes, download Chrome and/or Firefox for Windows.
Safari is for the Mac people.

Yes ! I just downloaded Chrome on my old Dell laptop with Windows 7, and periscope works great. Will just put shortcut on laptop and still use IE for default browser.
Just hitched into a couple of live feeds from Japan and South America and well impressed with periscope.Only social media thing I am on is FaceBook so don't have to even register with twitter to watch the live streams. thumbs up

I am following her and every other twitter account mentioned on IORR. All I know is that from my experience the floor is a great place to enjoy the show, terrible for scoping. The only way I could have gotten good reception and a good view would've been to hold the phone way above my head for 2 hours. It would've pissed off all the people behind me, worn me out, and made it impossible to enjoy the show. Far easier to just hold the phone infront of you if you don't have two tall guys infront of you on the floor seats!

That being said, I fall in the category of many people who just want to hear the audio, and only until Honkey Tonk Women. From that point on I am done.

I hope that helps. I'm also still hoping someone will post clear concise instructions there
for finding fresh live feeds quickly and adroitly on an android phone ...
but maybe it's just that the android app isn't all that quick and adroit
Anyway the assorted instructions in that thread should help.
