Sure, DP. But you gotta admit it was a huge letdown at the time. I'm sure even you expected something better than this?

I played DW in the record store non-stop for the entire week, and I loved it. Back To Zero and Winning Ugly were the clunkers, but I really loved the whole album. The alternatives were Mr. Mister, Cutting Crew and Culture Club at the time, so DW sounded fresh and raw.

other albums released at roughly the same time:
Joshua Tree, U2
The Queen is Dead, Smiths
Life's Rich Pageant, REM
So, Peter Gabriel
the smithereens, talking heads, elvis costello... list goes on and on.

Yeah, but I only worked in that store for a week
From memory, Joshua Tree came out later, didn't it (1987?)

Let's stop the nonsense. They are both crap pretty much in Keith's words Through and Through

Actually, I look back on those times with nothing but pure joy.
I worked in a record store (deployment, while I was in junior high school) at the time, and never had I been so excited about a release.

It still sounds pretty raw, save the clunkers.
But as you see in my deathmatch, I love Undercover more

being a little snarky don't you think?!

Maybe "Undercover" includes best songs overall. But "One Hit" is two times better than any Undecover's track, IMO! (And I like a lot "Dirty Work" and "Had It With You" too...)

Dirty Work is a travesty. A band as good as the Rolling Stones should be embarrassed to have this in their back catalog. Awful album!

I predict time will be kind to LULU -- Bowie likes it!

Have you ever heard John Lennon's TWO VIRGINS? Or ELECTRONIC SOUND by George Harrison?
No wait I've got it: the worst album ever made by an established rock/pop-artist has to be DYLAN AND THE DEAD by Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead.

Or "Trans" by Neil Young.
