Stray Cat Blues is pretty heavy, but metal-esque is not a description I'd give to any of the Stones tunes. Hard Rock at times is about as far as they've swung into the truly heavy. I wish the current Stones would actually try a bit harder to be harder, it fit them well and is sorely missing from the polished presentation of the tunes these days.

I've always thought Hold On Your Hat is heavy.

There is 'Heavy Metal' , and then there is what many refer to as 'Heavy', which is often used to describe bands like Soundgarden or Alice In Chains.
I think many are picking songs that are 'fast', and agreed, it is being picky, but still, 'fast' does not mean 'heavy' in rock terms. Hold Back and Fight are examples of 'fast' songs but certainly not 'heavy' by common music definition. One Hit would also not be considered 'heavy'. Stray Cat is probably the closest thing the Stones have to it (as a matter of fact, Soundgarden does a cover of that). Possibly, as someone pointed out, I would say Might As Well Get Juiced could be close, I see Dancing w/ Mr. D ... also close, maybe Whip Comes Down too. But for the most part, most of the choices would not be in the ballpark. Sorry, but I just thought this should be clarified, maybe this should be the 'fast' song thread.

Might as Well Get Juiced sounds heavy to me.

This performance is The Stones miming to a pre-recorded backing track for the JJF promo. Mick is singing live but the band are miming. It was directed by Michael Lindsey-Hogg who also directed The Beatles Hey Jude/ Revolution Promos (also Mimed) and Let It Be film.

When I see all these (rock!)songs named here I'm baffled.
Seems the Stones have always been a Heavy/metal band . .lol
