Buffalo Saturday July 11th sounds.... uncomfortable.Quote

I'll chime in. First off, I'm excited that they are coming back and hoping to catch at least one show. I'm not especially thrilled with the (expected) schedule though. Other than San Diego and perhaps Quebec City, I can't say there's one city where I go "wow, I'm going there!" Although I'm sure they are all fine cities. (How about Vegas. NEW ORLEANS! Louisville KY, etc...). Heck, I'd like to see the Fargo Dome as ND is one of 2 states I still need to get to. And the better (and relatively smaller) cities/venues are mostly the mid-weeks shows, which makes it tough. Being in Boston, I might wind up having the make the (7 hour) drive to Buffalo (Buffalo. Really?). If I can get a ticket to Milwaukee I may have to try and make that somehow happen - venue wise it looks like the most appealing. I wish Red Rocks was still in the cards. Oh well - we all have our wish lists, and it is what it is.
Well I don't think I attend music shows for such deep reasons. Keith is an amazing enough character but I've seen all I need to see about his state of mind from "Ask Keith." I paid my money, now play your guitar, be straight enough to be good that's the bottom line. I'm not interested in a Glen Cambell/Sinatra swan song.Quote

Well I was at Hyde Park 2 and for all the technical imperfections, I found watching keith grapple with the emotions of the event rather moving.
It's no longer the 1960s and they are no longer the beautiful brilliant dangerous animals that they were, but nevertheless, this band reflects both defiance and embracing of the experience of getting older. Each member does it in very different ways but for me, it's one of the most interesting aspects of the spectacle.
This is a good thread, keeps us from being spoilers and is there for fans of a more refined taste. Which shows are you buying tickets for?Quote

Looks like it may take a while to find like-minded fellow complainer/haters.
Yay.

You're just a troll, you're not going to any, never seen you around much before. I've been here making an ass of myself for 4 years now!Quote

You know..the ones where it's "appropriate to watch a band of seventy year olds" in. That line made me miss my Gramma.

DoomAnd Gloom - several of the shows sound less than ideal. I have fond memories of seeing them outdoors in Phili in '81. But like us all - I was a much younger guy then. I was at Hyde Park 1 two summers ago, and it was one of my least favorite Stones shows (granted, I had just been in the Tongue Pit in Boston, trying to get a high-5, or a guitar pic a few weeks earlier).
Indy Speedtrack, with 70,000 people? Talk abut uncomfortable. Columbus Ohio - 100,000??!! Pass.

I don't have any inside scoop but they'd have to return to London as long as they can continue. It's unrealistic to think they're last gig will be somewhere like Pennsyltucky. Personally it's much easier from New York City to get to London than Buffalo or Pittsburgh.

Although Bigger Bang gets applauded here people that I know that went vowed never to see the band again. I do not know the chronology of the gigs regarding Keith's accident but it's well known Ronnie mailed in much of the tour himself. That along with a disastrous Super Bowl performance put many casual fans on the outside, this is fact, many people I know will see The Who but not The Stones. In the last few years they have eclipsed some of that crap for those left watching, it seems they've thrown good sense out the window. Now Charlie is playing drums, outdoors, at a speedway of all places, on July 4th in unknown weather conditions..Less than half the people will have a good vantage point, never mind the security and all the bs that goes on here daily from both sides of the law.Quote

Assuming this "rumored" list is correct and the Stones are not coming to New York, then I am disappointed. The Forest Hills rumors got my attention but I still would prefer MSG. I passed when they played Shea Stadium and I was much younger at the time obviously. I personally don't enjoy stadiums so even if they were playing Yankee Stadium or CitiField, I'd skip it. All good wishes to those who do enjoy the travel and spectacle but, at age 62 and having seen them many times since '72 - most recently at Barclay's where I was underwhelmed - I will regrettably not be seeing them this go round.
