Sway: The Best Of Carla Olson & Mick Taylor seems to be a wonderful release, what a pain there won't be a cd edition.

Essen 1970, Love in vain.

Thanks for sharing, what a great version, what a great solo! Keith fits some nice unusual phrasings in this classical song.

Was listening to tears in my eyes from crusade the other day.

Just imagine being in the room with mick’s amp at full volume, the feedback he pulls out of it at around 3:15

What was he, 18 at the time?

Mick Taylor & The Jack Bruce Band - TOGWT 1975 - best audio & video

keep it down is so good starts at 7.25 if you wish to spend time listening I would listen to that. At 10.25 MT looks like he is playing the F power chord to G power chord before going into solo, if I got the frets down correctly looks like he starts at 1st fret to 3rd fret, I just do not recall him playing power chords, yes he would play Bar chords with the stones live.

Chuck Berry chords are power chords and he's played those a lot, but I get your drift.

Want to start a debate, just say Taylor is playing the power chords on Loving Cup! grinning smiley

TOGWT 1975 is an official release, but not the best. I prefer Gothenburg'75, a bootleg. The band had more punch there.

If you check "Taylormade Works" by N. Zentgraf -
if it wasn´t for the Stones taking him on the road
in 2013/14 or mentioning him in streams or rereleases,
he had six guest appearances on stage since 2015 -
what a waste of talent. Sad.

Back in 2012, former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Weston's death in 2012 was discovered through him not showing up to a studio session with Mick Taylor. As sad as that was, it gave some of us hope that at least Taylor was working on new recordings for a future release. But as nothing has been released since, maybe this session was scheduled not for a project by Taylor where Weston would have been the guest but vice versa?

I get the impression that Taylor has basically retired by now.

This guitar riff on Time waits for no one still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.Beautiful.
My wish one day,and I know it will never come true,is for Mick T.to rejoin the boys in the studio and to do some unplugged recordings. And Time waits for no one, would be a perfect place to start with a super long extended guitar solo.
TWFNO for me is an all time classic

Sway: The Best Of Carla Olson & Mick Taylor

Limited to 2000 copies and not available on CD or Digital. In 1988 former ROLLING STONES guitarist Mick Taylor began what was to be a significant series of collaborations with L.A. based Carla Olson, first with their "Live at the Roxy" album Too Hot For Snakes, the centrepiece of which is an extended seven-minute performance of “Sway” included on this album. It was followed by Olson's Within An Ace, which featured Taylor on seven songs. He appeared on three songs from Reap The Whirlwind and then again on Olson's The Ring of Truth, on which he plays lead guitar on nine tracks, including a twelve-minute version of the song "Winter". This is the best of their collaborations. Including the tracks, "Sway," "See The Light," "Within An Ace," "Loserville," "See The Light," and "Justice."

Date of release: 29 January 2021

Rolling Stones Rehearsals with Mick Taylor
Posted by: Taylor1 ()

Are there any rehearsals recordings with the Stones and Mick Taylor during 2Oi2-2014? On a blog it was stated that at the 2012 Echoplex rehearsals. they rehearsed songs like Rip this Joint,Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,and Street Fighting Man.He said the version of Street Fighting Man was great.Too bad they didn’t play those live with Taylor rather than the same old Midnight Rambler.I always like the rehearsals and sound checks that are up on you tube especially from Voodoo Lounge tour.

Rehearsals were in Burbank in 2013 followed by a club gig at the Echoplex.
Threads here.. not sure if recordings of the Echoplex gig ever surfaced.

I wonder if Taylor and Wyman, together, ever took part in the 2012 rehearsals, prior to the O2. Hope the tape was rolling.

Bill stated in a BBC interview that he wasn’t afforded the opportunity to fully rehearse with his old group. This, coupled with only being permitted to perform on two numbers, is why he declined the offer of further appearances.

There was an hour of rehearsals from Tokyo 2014 with three renditions of Silver Train. Seems to be off YT now but there should be ways to look it up

According to the article I read ,Taylor also played on other songs including Ain’t Too Proud To Beg, RipThis Joint and a great version of Street Fighting Man during the Echoplex rehearsals

Such a missed opportunity for much more greatness in many sizes and forms with the limited stage time .

Re: Rolling Stones Rehearsals with Mick Taylor

In 1981 Taylor played an almost entire gig with the Stones without rehearsing. During his last gigs with the Stones he had one solo spot (Can't You hear me knocking). Midnight Rambler and the other songs he played on the automatic pilot.
CYHMN with "the Roots" can be considered as a rehearsal as well. I cannot imagine there was much need or time to rehearse with the Stones for Mick Taylor being "an old friend of ours", like Jagger introduced him. It would be great if the rehearsals with Taylor will surface sooner or later. I doubt it vey much though.

Not sure where the term "Echoplex rehearsals" is coming from.
The 2013 Burbank rehearsals were for the 50 & Counting tour. [iorr.org]

The Echoplex was a club show just before the tour opener in LA (Staples Center).[iorr.org]
The rehearsals in Burbank, where Taylor arrived a bit later than the rest of the band, had a ton of great songs, likely including the ones you list..

The layout of the rehearsals in Burbank was such that the music could be heard outside the gates, so we got a lot of reports of what songs, who was there etc.

In 2015, they rehearsed at the same Burbank locale for Zip Code, but could not be heard from the sidewalk outside the complex. I was there a couple days..
Mick stopped to say hello, Charlie stopped, etc.,, but the rehearsals couldn't be heard.

Side note: Liked the club poster above at the time and bought a few extra copies direct from the artist.. Not so much now.. Have extras if anyone interested drinking smiley
