Isn't that Jimmy Miller in this photo?
Thanks for those Who shots 2000 LYFH, sweet! Such a killer record they were making.

... they may well have just stuck that photo in there (which is also from 1970) merely to reference the full band.
And Mick Taylor's hair is different.

That shot was taken at the Saville Theater on December 14th 1969.

Hi "with sssoul";
Thanks for posting, How do you know that this is Stargrovers then say Olympic Studios? Were these from a magazine article or your private collection? Do you have a copy without the water mark? Again thanks for the quick responce. VJ

Those pics are (among others) on a book called "The Rolling Stones Olympic Recording Session, June 1968" from UFO Music:

They're not my own photos, Video James - they circulate on the internet, but I only have this fragment in better quality.
Someone around here can probably help you, or you could ask the Pictorial Press (although they have them misdated as 1968).
There was probably a magazine article that accompanied the photos - I don't know - but you can see it's Stargroves:
in the background there's wood paneling and other touches that look like what we've seen of that joint
in documentaries (and in Dr Who ). That's more apparent in this fragment:
- still apparently Stargroves, March 1970 (still don't know who took it, sorry!)

I wonder if that's the source of the misidentification of these shots, or one of the victims of it.
Those shots are definitely not 1968 - if nothing else, look at the guitars -
and as noted above the room they're in looks just like Stargroves and not much like Olympic Studios.

Look at the size of that place for such a modest bachelor...
There must be 14 or so rooms that have never met Mick

I rather think the main bedrooms had en suite facilities. But the heating bills must have been scary.

For the life of me, I never understood why these rock stars back then lived in these places. I know they had illusions of rock royalty etc..
but these homes look creepy. How'd you like to have to the bathroom in the middle of the night in those dark, austere hallways. Seriously, it looks like something from an Edgar Allan Poe story.

Creepy?
Well maybe in the middle of the night!
