Remove SFTD and put JJF on...

Controversial! grinning smiley

They could just shorten it, maybe fade out just as Keith's guitar solo starts?

Maybe if they took out all the woo-woo's...

They do start grating after awhile.

Maybe just 3 sets of woo-woo's so we get where this is going, and then just end it already?

One thing to remmember is that both "Flash" and "Honky Tonk" were released about six months earlier than the albums. So by the time the albums were released, those songs were old news - out of charts for months already. So it would have been re-cicling already used tools. Taking the artistic pride - including how seriously album format was taken - at the time, and the hectic atmosphere, for which a half year was a long time, I don't think they even considered including those songs in the albums. They were not just different artistic entities, but also 'yesterday's papers' already.

But I don't recall any Beatles hits never appearing on their albums.

The US market tended to put singles on the albums, sometimes after the fact. In the UK, these hits weren't included on albums:

From Me to You
She Loves You
I Want to Hold Your Hand
I Feel Fine/She's a Woman
Eight Days a Week
We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper (US also)
Paperback Writer (US also)
Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields (US also, initially)
All You Need Is Love (US also, initially)
Hello Goodbye
Lady Madonna (US also)
Hey Jude/Revolution (US also)
Get Back (initially) (US also)
The Ballad of John and Yoko (US also)

For the Stones, these hits didn't appear on albums in the UK:

Not Fade Away
It's All Over Now
Heart of Stone
Little Red Rooster
The Last Time
Satisfaction
Get Off of My Cloud
As Tears Go By
19th Nervous Breakdown
Paint It Black
Have You Seen Your Mother
Let's Spend the Night Together & Ruby Tuesday
JJF
HTW

Nahhh. Absolutely NO woo-woo aloud.

They should have just added JJF to Black and Blue, better late than never and Black and Blue only had 8 songs on it.

I think that Allen Klein might have had something to say about that!

I went through search but couldn't find anything. So here goes my question: Did Mick on Honky Tonk Woman sing the different 2nd verse only in Paris 1976 or on the entire tour or what? He sings "Hamburg city" e.g. in Kiel here:

Any clues?

It would've needed additional tracks overdubbed, if not a remix, to fit the sound of Black And Blue... so sure. It would've fit perfectly after Hand Of Fate.

"Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Honky Tonk Women," arguably the Stones two greatest hits, were never on albums (apart from greatest hits albums, that is). Why is that? JJF would have fit nicely into Beggars Banquet and HTW on Let It Bleed.

Does anybody know why they decided not to put these two songs on albums? It would have helped sell the albums, certainly.

(I know "Country Honk," the Graham Parsons arrangement of "Honky Tonk Women" is on Let it Bleed.)

"arguably the STONES two greatest hits" - Not on albums, theres your answer, if
these Brilliant tracks had been on albums they would NOT have been such huge
SINGLE Hits (and the '60's was the singles decade ) Many of the Stones singles
would have been HUGE Hits if they had NOT been on albums - why buy the single
when the A & B side were both on the new album, and lets face it a NEW STONES
ALBUM did'nt need help selling, and when the single was'nt on the album you
had an extra brilliant Stones track x 2 (A/B side) spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Well, technically, officially, the album JJF and HTW is on is THROUGH THE PAST, DARKLY as I recall it being stated.

Jimmy Miller ) the STONES WERE BACK ..... AND THEY ARE STILL HERE smileys with beerhot smiley

(I know "Country Honk," the Graham Parsons arrangement of "Honky Tonk Women" is on Let it Bleed.)

I doubt this is a Parsons arrangement, just a Stones tune and arrangement done in a country style. I believe this was inspired from Mick and Keith staying on a South American ranch in the country and a bit of porch time with the acoustics. peace

I don't know why Stones fans put BB in the Top 4...

I think it's Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile and Some Girls hands down.

Pecman

I do. For me, it's tracks like Symphony, Stray Cat Blues, Jig Saw Puzzle, Parachute Woman, Salt of the Earth. I love Some Girls but these songs blow away anything on Some Girls, easily.

This, IMO, hurt our album sales. We could have sold much more product if they
were included. Upsetting IMHO.

I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that Parsons, right after he heard the Honky Tonk Women we all know (the one that starts with the cowbell), immediately sat down at the piano and played the version that is on Let It Bleed. That is why I called it a "Graham Parsons arrangement."
