New Titles from the Album
Posted by: ChelseaDrugstore ()
Date: June 7, 2005 22:13

Heard that Keith (and mainly Keith) is mixing the album on the West Coast. Titles include "Look at what the Cat drug in" and "Dirty Ruckus".
Man I can not believe we are actually going to get a whole new album of new stuff in ca 10 weeks.

Great names, but what is a Ruckus?

Well, at first I thought you are kidding - what kind of song title is this "Look at what the Cat drug in"??

Then I thought - no ChelseaDrugstore is a serious guy. And hey - after "Oh No Not You Again" I can also imagine a name like that Cat thing for a song...
Cool said in an interview that Keith is in LA mixing the album...
Hm, Chelsea can you reveal your source or do you have any more info?

Look What The Cat Drug In? It should be "Dragged"...not "Drug".

Anyways, I hope it's not true...it sounds like an Aerosmith title.

And Dirty Ruckus? Too close to Dirty Work...it ain't gonna happen.

They are likely just working titles...to be refined and re-named later or just dumped.

Stones have many song titles that are either written in old English or that are not grammatically correct. Being a writer this one thing that always amazed me about the Stones, not using proper English. You can find mistakes like that in so many song. But I'd imagine they are not really mistakes. Song titles are quite obvious as well.

Gimme Shelter
Tumblin Dice

or lyrics from WBY during the Licks tour,.

"Just don't seem to find my way"

"look what the cat drug in" is a nonstandard dialect, but it's a pretty widely-recognized idiom; same with "drug" as a nonstandard past tense for "drag". and sure, nonstandard forms are used all the time in music.
both these titles cheer me up enormously even if they *are* just working titles. they sound like the Rolling Stones. :E

Since when does rock 'n' roll have anything to do with 'proper English? Jesus people!!!!! Are we a bunch of old school marms now? Damn come on! Those sound like the best 'Stones' titles (if in fact they are) I've heard in years, "Look What The Cat Drug In" just reeks rock 'n' roll. Man, I hope it's true.

Ruckus: as in...

"He/She sure kicked up a ruckus."

"Fuc the Rock babe, I want the Roll." (KR)

Who the hell cares what the title is or what is proper english or grammer. Music is about SOUND, let's what and hear what the song sounds like.

Bet those are fake titles - or working titles at any rate. Either way they're crap.

Proper??? The Stones??? Come on, guys! If they were PROPER I'm not sure I'd like them. If they were ordinary, proper Englishmen in their sixties... How many of ut would spend thousands of dollars going on tour wit them? Not me! But naughty, raunchy, incredibly talented and fine musicians - Yeah, I'll hang around!

To me, it is more important that a song is good, even if its title is "crap".

Well put, I´m with you guys.

Rockman, you answered the Gimme-part. Do you (or anyone else??)
know where or when the "Gimmie" came in? Was it the movie?

Erik I don´t think Nikolaj meant that the titles was crap but the posting
(if I may guess); I can´t judge. On one hand, Chelsea is a sleazy & at times
not so pleasant cyber person, on the other he can be pretty accurate & serious at times. There´s no secret he has connections in the business. But on the third hand we are plenty that has that here.
Chelsea: Can´t you give us only a vague indication on your type of source
(- I´m sure you didnt read it in the American issue of MAD, huh?)?

I also wanna say I love when Americans & English sing "@#$%&"; to a great portion
because it´s so taboo etc etc; and it sounds nice. Try "knulla" or "bolle"; not at all as heavy. "@#$%& up my life"...

All I was stating about proper English was that someone said those can't be real names of songs because they are not proper English, and I was just responding to that person saying the tiles don't always make sense nor do they have to.

I would lke to hear some source about where these titles came from.

I also got the same reactions on the titles that you had, hound dog.
But on the other hand who would have expected ON,NYA... ?
I say its as best working titles.
But I wouldnt bet on eating my hat on it.

Perhaps RZA from the Wu-Tang is helping Keith do the mixing?

Intro:

Shaolin shadowboxing, and the Wu-Tang sword style
If what you say is true, the Shaolin and the Wu-Tang
could be dangerous
Do you think your Wu-Tang sword can defeat me?

En garde, I'll let you try my Wu-Tang style

Chorus: RZA

Bring da motherf*n ruckus
Bring da motherf*n ruckus
Bring da mother, bring da motherf*n ruckus
Bring da motherf*n ruckus

It seems to be fairly common knowledge now that it's Ocean's Way, the wellknown studio in LA where Keith is supposed to be mixing.
As far as "..drug in..."in a title: it would obviously be a play on words for those with a sense of humor.

this is just rubbish.the last time keith mixed an album an his own was dirty works,i mean stones album.and the titles, rubbish.you can,t believe this for a second

Re: New Titles from the Album
Posted by: ChelseaDrugstore ()
Date: June 15, 2005 04:28

Oh hell no Harlem Shuffle. I do not for one second think keith is mixing anything on his own. Nowadays he might be there only for final approval kind of thing. It's more about the Stones mixing in LA. And that does come from a reliable source. I mean - why not? They gotta mix this thing somewhere LOL
And please tell me why the info about the songtitles is rubbish. I don't really disagree, I am curious why something that others haven't readily heard themsleves automatically must be dismissed as rubbish

in certain dialects/varieties of English drug is simply the past tense of drag. it's not standard English, but (as so many have noted) so what?
and whether or not these title ideas turn out to be final versions, working titles or disinformation, they cheered me up enormously.
let's rock & roll!

first of all chelsea drugstore,i don,t call you a lyer.but where are you get this information from?from an english tabloid? in normal newspapers it,s jagger and richards together who,s finished the album.not keith by himself, and i,m very glad jagger is there too.so this titles i don,t really believe in.we has to wait and see.let,s hope this will be a really topalbum
