As follows. Taylor plays on all songs. I wanted to get Hot Stuff in here somewhere (a la Knebworth, not the lame studio version) but somehow I just can't imagine them pulling it off convincingly these days.

Hey Negrita as a jam intro, medleyed with Brown Sugar
Bitch
Stray Cat Blues
Gimme Shelter
You Gotta Move
Dead Flowers

(acoustic set)
Sweet Virginia
No Expectations
I Got The Blues
Sister Morphine

Love In Vain (Keith and Ronnie on acoustic, Taylor plugged in)
Midnight Rambler
Silver Train
Bye Bye Johnny
Beast Of Burden
Time Waits For No One, medleyed with YCAGWYW (Taylor's solo acts as a segue, the chords being the same)

Encore:
Satisfaction medleyed with Uptight (Everything's Alright), feat. Stevie Wonder
Street Fighting Man

Great set list!!

However, I would substitute the following - Torn and Frayed for Sister Morphine, Luxury for Bye Bye Johnny, and somewhere Shattered would be inserted- maybe after or before Beast of Burden

....But, seriously, why are there so many here who can't stand enjoying their greatest hits?

These songs that people complain about, they were hits for a reason--they are their best work. Why would they play a concert showcasing only their substandard fillers and B-sides?

Think of it this way: If you had a friend who was interested in discovering their music, would you hand them Hot Rocks.... or Dirty Work and Black and Blue?

How did you first discover the Stones? Because you heard Jack Flash or Brown Sugar on the radio, not because you heard track 4 of Black and Blue or track 8 of Goats Head Soup.

Many of the warhorses aren't even hits, and were never released as singles. They're simply great songs.

It's interesting that MR now is regarded as a warhorse smiling smiley

I'll make it simple- we want to hear Mother's Little Helper, Torn and frayed, Let it Loose, Blue Turns to Grey, Hand of Fate, etc... live ....even tunes off of Flowers would be favored.

Great idea, but it'll never happen-- one of the main reasons is that most of the people attending the shows would have never heard of most of these songs---they only know the warhorses............
too bad.

It's a shame to all. The youth and general public don't know the great classics (EOMS, BB, Flowers..etc..). It is also disturbing that we suffer from mainstream objectives.

Don't associate ignorance solely with age.

It's ironically quite ignorant.

I didn't start this thread as a criticism of the Stones' set lists. It's just a fun idea. It's understandable given that they're playing to huge crowds, for a limited amount of shows (one in each city), that they do what they do.

TheBlockbuster made a comment about similarities with some of the set lists proposed here with the Licks tour. That's what I loved about the Licks tour - with the warhorses aplenty for the stadium shows, but more variety for the arena and theater shows.

That being said, if the Stones chose to cut down their warhorses to 7 or 8 instead of 12 to 13 or so, I wouldn't be displeased. Midnight Rambler is always my favorite show-stopper, but I think they could alternate it with CYHMK, and alternate Sympathy with Shelter, stick in IYCRM instead of IORR, and so on.

Maybe the next tour, with a new album and less (just a tad) "nostalgia"! smiling smiley

Thanks franzk and Dandelion Powderman! I thought why not see what letter of the alphabet would give a great setlist with only a few warhorses. The letter S did just that... The pre concert music could be Stoned on a loop. One can trade She's So Cold in for She Was Hot.

This is "slightly" on the more unrealistic side with many lesser known tunes, but I also like it. Good of you to use about only 2 war horses. (YGMR now has warhorse status, doesn't it?)

Mean Disposition, that's one I'd like to hear. Man I loved the Licks arena shows that started with SFM.
