Black Ice is too damn long for me. A bit of bloat if I'm honest.
Without question.

Kind of like most of us say about Bigger Bang!

I'm always curious about this type of statement, with digital music you can edit, rearrange, delete, remix, do anything. If you bought the music it's yours so just cut out what songs you don't like and make an album that you would want to listen to over and over.

I'd rather have a 60 minute album with songs I can choose from than a 28 minute album, which is more like an ep these days.

All this is moot if you are listening to vinyl.

With your argumentation you shouldn't discuss albums at all. Only Songs! Because you can always make your own playlists out of the complete back catalogue.

For me an album is an artistical statement and I like to listen to it as a whole. I am one of the people who thinks ABB is too long. I listen to Songs off ABB but not to the whole album. But I still think it's too long. And I can't edit my LP Version.

I see both sides of the argument and I wholeheartedly agree an album is an artistic statement and should be viewed as such much in the way that all the classic albums were. That being said, I would much rather have a longer album than a short one so that I can have it all. Would rather find my faves vs someone else’s because as we have seen with HD, opinions and tastes vary greatly. That being said, for me anyway, when an album has more duds than memorable songs, to me it’s bloated. ABB has a few duds but overall I still think it holds up well. Listening to it right now actually after having given HD a listen again, and I most definitely prefer the edge of ABB. Somethings been lost along the way to HD.

But when I say ABB is too long, what I’m saying is that if they had cut a couple songs, it could have been another classic album. And continued the modern renaissance. Alas it didn’t but I still enjoy it. It had been 8 years since B2B and I played ABB to death for 6 months straight!!!! Then for a long time I didn’t listen to it at all. Only recently have I started revisiting it and I think it’s definitely better than HD for me anyway.

I don’t mind short and concise albums if they are good. Really good. Rock or Bust is like that. Great album leaves me wanting more. The last Cult album was the same.

"Possible dates for the German concerts have now been leaked. Marco Meierhöfer, administrator of the German AC/DC forum, published some of the expected tour dates on his YouTube fan channel. The post has since been deleted again following an official enquiry. However, the source for the dates is said to be waterproof." - German newspaper 'Westfälische Nachrichten' - [www.WN.de] .

AC/DC at Olympiastadium - quite a nice combination!

Kinda.

Re: OT: AC/DC stuff

thats a lot of german shows.

And Gelsenkirchen kinda fills the gap for the NRWF region. However I expect more shows there since the region is pretty big.

Eager to see how this will play out. Surely they can't ask Stones prices if they play this many concerts. Also very curious if Brian's voice can do this.

Yet your last statement defies what you said about a 28 minute album (regardless of format). Running time vs amount of tracks has generally been the difference between an EP and an LP, originally because of physical format, but since the 1980s, not because of physical format - because an EP time wise is still an EP... amount of tracks included.

Oh great, the Cannstatter Wasen!

I much prefer the MHP Arena next door. The Stones played 3 times there under 3 different names (Neckarstadion, Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, Mercedes Benz Arena).

OT: AC/DC - where are the legacy live shows and SDEs?

AC/DC released Backtracks, Bonfire and Plug Me In but the band may be unique in having never released any expanded editions of their albums or released any complete live shows from their 1970s and 80s touring peak.

Has the band ever addressed why they've never released any live shows or deluxe CDs with outtakes?

BackTracks. Maybe the coolest boxset of them all. The Amplifier that actually works, although probably not the best sounding.

Yes, and also for Van Halen, my 2 favourite bands (obviously along with Stones).

well, not so unique. Bob Dylan never released an expanded edition of one of his albums. But there are the bootleg series, of course

There is a supposed concert hold in Tampere, Finland around the end of July as well. Not sure if it's for AC/DC or somebody else.

The biggest venue in Europe.

Their official website now encourages people to subscribe to the mailing list.

They're taking pages right out of the Stones' playbook.

The website also has a tour page up.
