I rather hear Keith do stuff like this for change than the same old stuff for big bucks.

Wish it didn't have to be either/or.

I would... I've enjoyed all of the others from the series that I have seen and don't think that Keith was on any of those. Personally I think it's a cool concept. As a musician I think it A REALLY COOL CONCEPT. If I was asked I'd participate in a heartbeat regardless of any celebrity involvement.

Peace,
Mr DJA

i'm a huge U2 fan myself, but you know what i mean.they catch alot of flak for that kind of thing.even with the good intentions you here the sarcastic "bono wants to save the world" and all that.

Man, this made my DAY! Keith is in such fine voice - and I love the uber-simple perfect lines he's playing.
It's a gorgeous spring here in San Francisco - this just added to the joyous feeling in the air!

Does anyone know the backstory--when this was produced? more specifically, where/when Keith's contribution
was filmed?

I prefer "Words of Wonder" because it's a funkier sexier song, it's Keith's song, and because Keith is really
is shining his light here. To me, "Get Up, Stand Up" is ok -- I do love that Keith appears to happily become a
supporting contributor to this recording, tho the overall effort, to me, if less effecting.

Thing is, with efforts like this, to me, they can veer very close to the cheesy and cliche. BUT that's when
they're cynically or cheesily put together. I feel what we have here is pretty amazing for a couple of reasons:

(1) astonishing caliber of talent assembled here--obviously very carefully curated and gotten together

(2) high production values that transcend slickness and technical virtuosity for the sake of technical virtuosity
and appears to mirror a true and sincere intent and vibe of the people involved with the making of this--at all levels

Some other efforts--which some of us do curl our lip at--feel contrived as hell and drenched in ego and
posturing. I don't get that here at all. And I don't mean because it's The United Colors of Benneton Peoples
of the World, playing amidst humble backdrops. These musicians are doing their thing, and it IS amazing so see
us all around the world, doing our own thing, separate and connected. And that "our" Keith chose to be part of this.
It's genuinely cool.

Anyway --- pure joy!

The mistake here is to want to put what you're hearing in a box and call it raggae reggae. I doubt if many of the participating musicians regard themselves as participating in any such genre. Try hearing it just as highly enjoyable music that doesn't have to fit any category.

Watched the video just the first time, only audio since. The audio stands up superbly, very nice groove. I got a feeling Keith is the driving force behind this production, that's what I'd like to think anyway…haha

oh,sorry i wasnt done with that-funny story about that raggae reggae thing-when i was in jamaica years ago they always put these posters up for an event.

i went to a club that had a flyer up for "ragga" music.it was actually the same riddim but with electronic music blended.
i went to another "ragga" show again later in the trip.. . because i was baked and couldnt keep the two words straight -anyway it was actually pretty good but to this day i blend those two words.

i was having a discussion here one day with a guy who said some music i was defending was "milk toast"-i just assumed he was having breakfast and ignored it,but then again i didnt call him a "creature" either.

I'm listening to it repeatedly right now, too. I like the groove and that there are many talented people assembled from all over the world with different instruments, playing in a so naturally, unobtrusive sounding and looking way - and among them Keith Richards. He can still sing his song and his vocals sound really pleasant. I could maybe have done without the cliche pirate laugh. I also always enjoyed the version of Gimme Shelter from this project.
