This actually looks like it might be good.

He surely has the look down. But from what I read the only drag is the Jane Hendrix refused to allow them to use any of Jimi's music in the film so don't be expecting Andre to be playing any Purple Haze in the film.

This looks outstanding. Gotta say I didn't expect it to be so good. Really looking forward to seeing this film.

The Chas Chandler guy is good as well.

Terrible impression of his speaking voice. Half the time Andre nails it, half the time he sounds like he's doing his idea of a Scottish or British accent, which is bizarre to say the least. The fact that there are no actual Jimi songs in the movie (only the covers he did) combined with this bad acting makes me agree with His Majesty: cringe.

Thank God Jimi's friends and admirers Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards
and Bob Dylan will never have to face seeing their lives distorted on film.

But then unlike Hendrix, they have families who care about them as well as fine lawyers to protect them.

I beg to differ with those posts critical of the voice. I was astonished at how much the actor's voice sounded like Hendrix's speaking voice.

I have a number of Hendrix radio shows and bootlegs on LP. On many of them, Jimi was interviewed or spoke for an extended period of time. Andre 300 sounds like Hendrix does on those LPs.

Singing voice, I dunno. But if it is true that no Hendrix tunes are in the film, the film already has two strikes against it just walking to the plate.

Sometimes you just have to laugh...

A Hendrix friend who just saw the entire film says his favorite part is
a scene where Chas Chandler, Jimi and Linda Keith in Greenwich Village are discussing the his future.

Keep in mind that this is early summer of 1966 when Jimi is basically unknown. He will not arrive in London, where he eventually becomes "someone" until September 24, 1966 (the day after the Stones concert at Royal Albert Hall).

But per the Andre film one of the topics of conversation is Jimi urging Linda to come to the Monterey Pop Festival to see him.

The idea of the Festival was not conceived of until spring of 1967.
