she's done her time, as a Stone support act - give someone else a chance, otherwise the bars will be packed.

Yeah, I agree. Sheryl Crow was good, but this time around it's time for rock'n'roll. Don't give me Joss Stone.
I mean she sure is beautiful, but nothing I would be too excited about.
I would love to see bands like Metallica, Motley Crue, Backyard Babies and White Stripes.

The White Stripes are just finishing their Euro tour...i doubt they'll be back, as soon as next summer...we can but hope, though.
Upcoming bands, that are fresh and can rock...i'm thinking along the lines of:-
The Arcade Fire, The Subways, Arctic Monkeys. Lets give some young upcoming bands some exposure infront of large stadium crowds.

"The Arcade Fire, The Subways, Arctic Monkeys"

please god no! they rock about as much as Macca. i mean they're ok in their own wats. but they aren't ROCK N ROLL! i want to be warmed up before the Stones come on, not nodding off

saying that. i do know one of the Fire lot so maybe thats a good idea ;o)

oh dude..you've gotta get with the programme- these bands do rock..but i only used them as examples, of new bands, over older, established acts.
I appreciate, that the majority of a typical Stones audience, wouldn't "dig", or even know of these bands...they'd just be my preference, over poodle rockers from the 80's, such as Motley Crue.
But it's all subjective- one man's meat is anothers poison.
I'm sure you'll get your Motley Crue, on afew dates.

The Darkness are rumoured for the UK club gigs. We might expect Motley Crue being announced as supporting band for shows in Scandinavia, Germany and France.
Royal Albert Hall could be a possible venue in 2006.

- well, should i (by some miracle) get a ticket for any club gig,
i'll be in the bar, if the dreaded Darkness are supporting.
Awful cack.

The Royal Albert Hall is NOT a small venue for 2006. Repeat NOT!

Why not The Black Crowes again? They've anounced (and sold out) gigs in London and Amsterdam in march 06, so maybe they'll stick around for some more. Now that would be a great opener! They allready opened for The Stones somewhere in the nineties in Wembley...

ahhh..it might not be a particularily small venue (it'll do for me)
but is it a venue that's being considered, Mr Maverick?
..Rank Outsider, seems to think so.
When did they last play The R.A.H??- it's been a while, for sure.

You got tickets for one of the London gigs? I'm going to Paradiso, Amsterdam. First time, so I'm really excited!

Re: UK gigs

It looks likely that a London gig to be announced before Christmas, other UK dates will be annouced after the London gig. Don't expect any annoucement of club gigs in the "offical" tour announcement, these will be at short notice and listed just before the actual tour begins.

the e-mail from rs.com re: the new presales completely screws up the prospect of genuine fans getting presale tickets for any shows that are announced at short notice with their membership package.

You can only apply for presales for ONE country. So, for example, if the Stones announce a few stadium UK shows this month, you have the dilemma of whether or not to use your presale option on those shows "just in case" they announce other smaller shows later on (like they were going to in the US..hah!). Similarly, if you live in, say, the western part of Germany and wanted a presale for concerts there but dont get offered good tickets for a show in your area, you're obliged to maybe go for tickets in other parts of the country instead of trying to use your presale option for a show in Holland which may be much closer to you. Absolutely nonsensical.

Amazingly, they defend this absurd change by saying its a better and more improved system for everyone.

was going to start a new thread about this.. makes you wonder if they are touring for the music or the money.. if it was the money then tickets could be £10 and there wouldn't be any sign up for fan club and then buy tickets knowing full well people will have to join the fan club a few times to go to more than one show

another case of the fans being ripped off. mmakes it look like money counts more than music now

with the amount of merchandising and sponsors and stuff on the sure they could eaily reduce the cost of ticket.. even make a loss and still get a few million each per tour

Top UK ticket prices will be £150, so no increase from 2003!

if there's any substance to this
(we'll see soon enough..announcement monday28th?)
then it looks like 150 quid= pitch seating, as opposed to pitch standing.

es the prices may be the same but you stillhave to join the fan club to get the pre order and do this more than once if you want to go to more than one show which they know the fans do

if this was ust about music prices would be about £25 and fan club would be free or only £10 with access to book as many shows as you want

So finally, after 90 years, the pubs aren't closing at 11 o'clock anymore.
you folks from England and Wales must be happy about that.
especially after a Stones gig.

anyone?
