^ By country rock, I meant the stuff as done in the late 60s by The Byrds, Dylan and Gram parsons.

I think the "boy band-pop" should be included in the 90s and 00s, as much as it hurts to say...
And "house" is too easy. r&B (rhythm and beats, not blues), hip hop, world music pop etc. all have been dominating the 90s and 00s. "Rave" or "House" was essentially a late 80s/early-mid 90s thing.
And where is the "brit pop" that was the biggest thing around the world for some years in the mid-late 90s? Should be included.

I agree `bout most of your points. However, I judge the mid-late 90s "brit pop" as stricktly retro (they`re trying to sound like The Beatles, -developing it) When I say "House" it`s an attempt to make things simple. I mean most of the music one will hear at a clup/on the radio since the late 80s up to now.

Well, "indie" to my knowledge, stands for "individual". I feel arrogance towards the term, and put it in the "retro" bag. Jazzrock becomes a bit marginal. "Canterbury Scene"? -Hmm, smells like retro to me. Garage? Well, in this rough list it will have to live under the "beat/surf" banner. Btw, "house", to me, could be called "disco with a faster pace". It`s not a complement.

We're forgetting garage, which would be inserted 1964/65 or so.
