I wish they'd make the Live album from Charlie Is My Darling Deluxe set available as a seperate readily available release.

I'm going to grab this, but surely won't be standing in line for it. If I don't get one on 11/29 (which I'm sure I will) there will be a surplus of them on the net. I got the RSD edition of "Five By Five" long after Record Store day for $6, and tracked down a copy of the RSD "The Rolling Stones" EP for $8 just last week.

Why would someone waste money on this release when the original EP can be purchased quite easily and reasonably priced?

Correct Big Al. If they would replicate the original by using laminated flipback covers, heavy vinyl, analog mono and open face Decca labels I would buy it. Just because it would be mint condition. Just like 5X5, buy the original.

I recall purchasing their debut EP or around £8.00 about a decade ago. Slight wear-and-tear on the sleeve and a few light surface scratches. Record looks and plays OK, though. Bargain! I purchased 5x5 for around the same price and managed to a get a very-good conditioned copy of The Beatles 'Hits' EP for £10.00. All this through scouring through little second-hand record shops.

Your logic is quite right, but the reality is that reissues always sell reasonably well. Why buy the reissue of Let it Bleed on vinyl for $30 when you can buy the US original (pick any album in the catalogue) on ebay, in mint condition for $15?

I've bought SEALED copies of Emotional Rescue, Some Girls, Dirty Work, Steel Wheels, Undercover, all for under $10. FREAKIN' SEALED!

None of it makes sense, but I'll pick the bargoon up when I see it!

FYI - The two previous Rolling Stones 7" RSD releases were really noisy sounding. Cheap vinyl I guess. My nearly 50-year old originals still sound better even though they were always played on crappy record players(not stereo systems) back in the 60s. That said, as a collector, I'll still plan to grab one of these.

I'm going to one-up myself and add color vinyl to my wish list above. Or even multi-color, now I'm just getting silly. People would like that too much.

Listening to the original mono EP now. Fantastic energy! thumbs up

I'm going after the Stiff box set, US only release. Here's a link to their YouTube site with videos about the box and each release in the box produced by Nigel Dick. Great watching.

Spoke to a guy who has owned his own record store for year, real old fashioned type of record store you don't see that often anymore.

Anyway he was explaining what record store day is and its a corporation that basically uses record stores to make money. It doesn't help these mom and pop stores at all, he said it actually hurts them. He said its something that is very misleading to people.

I disagree with this gentleman's statement it hurts more than helps. I've clicked on the link for stores in my area and found several owner operated shops I never knew existed. I've went to some of them last weekend and will continue to go back even after Black Friday.

Thanks to this thread, I just popped down the hill to Amoeba to pick up Got Live ... as a gift. It's a shame the Record Store Day sticker doesn't come off, though.

PS Just realized I paid 99c more than OP did. Ugh!

I picked up the 1963 self-titled EP last year and wasn't too impressed with the packaging or sound, so I passed on Got Live today (I've got a Decca, anyway - I think it's an early '80s reissue).

I did get the Doors LP (mono tracks on side A, live tracks on side cool smiley, which is a nice, thick 180 gram slab... and also grabbed the Vince Guaraldi Trio "Linus & Lucy" single on gold vinyl because, hey - Christmas is coming.

I just found out the Kind Of Blue RSD issue is in mono, though, so I might be running back to my local before closing!

Just waiting for this whole black friday sales debacle to become a
reality TV show where they broadcast "HUNGER BLACK FRIDAY GAMES".

I'm wondering where the fundamentalist guys are. Black Friday sounds plenty evil to me. Probably for different reason though. haha.
