Blondie says he was downsized
Posted by: bam ()

On Rollingstone.com. Most of the interview is about working with Brian Wilson again, and his history with the Beach Boys. He says the only reason he was given for not being on the Stones' latest tour was that the band was downsizing.

A step in the right direction I think. I prefer the Stones stripped down to the basics...

He's better suited to the Beach Boys: that time from 1972 - 1974 was a great period for the Beach Boys, as it was, basically, Carl and Dennis' band with Mike Love as front man. From 1975 it became Mike Love's band, and any sense of progressiveness evaporated.

Blondie and Ricky were a step in the right direction, until the Love family took over.

He had a bad influence on Keith. Mick didn't like him.

Bad influence on Keith? I doubt it.
Mick didn't like him...most likely true.

There are other reasons that aren't for open discussions on a public board.

If you ever run into Blondie, he is the nicest guy and will have a chat with you if he has the time, but there are other issues.

maybe the correct term here is 'right-sizing'.

I think he was given the right reason, in the meaning that the band preferred a more stripped down appearance and a more stripped down sound also, the money thing is so little here, it is totally without any real relevance.

Of course I don't know if Mick likes him or not.

If only they would replace Chuck with somebody else or at least hide him on the stage behind some wall or under the stage...

That would be the obvious answer. It's all about the benjamins.
