OK, so these are previously previously unreleased, as opposed to just previously unreleased.

Still, there are some "new" treats for old completists. I don't have the Reprise US Tour Spot or the stereo single mix of Lincoln County or the stereo with alternate ending of Did You See His Name? or the alternate stereo mix of Afternoon Tea--which is a plus as it comes from one of my favorite Kinks albums--or the session excerpt of Days or the backing track take two of She's Got Everything, as well as the alternate mono mix of same, or the Interview: Clay Cole Meets The Kinks Recorded June 17, 1965, plus all the alternate mixes of the other tracks listed here, which probably amounts to, oh... 25 or so previously unreleased.

OK, alright, I'll pony up again at the register, since a 5-disc 50th anniversary release only happens once in every 25 unreleased tracks or so.

nope there are about 25 unreleased tracks on this set. You easily look up where each song is from. There are a bunch of new unreleased stereo mixes

One thing for sure these BMG remaster Deluxe editions are fantastic. I just got Arthur in the mail last week and the week before the Lola Vs Powerman/Percy double CD. You get mono and stereo versions with some excellent bounus material. I wish The Stones, Kinks, and Who would release full album with just the backing tracks with no vocals. Love that stuff. Kinks fans should be adding these deluxe editions to collections. All keepers and worth the money spent.

I would buy this for the DVD only (although I already own Muswell Hillbillies remastered version with 2 extra bonustracks: Mountain Woman and Kentucky Moon).

So I know there were a lot of people saying earlier that if you can catch Dave Davies you should.

I was skeptical of that, even though I have his Rock Bottom live album and its phenomenal. But its nearly 20 years ago so I had my doubts.

However, my dad just bought us tickets to see Dave at the City Winery in November. Needless to say I'm pumped. I hope he's as good as everyone has mentioned, however I haven't once been burned seeing people at the City Winery and I've seen some people worse than Dave friggen Davies!

They should tour as the Brothers Davies. The Bee Dees.

Ray's right on this one. Dave's attempt to minimize Mick Avory's contribution to The Kinks is weak.

Dave should be lucky he is still around after his stroke. Get out and play with Ray and Mick

If he doesn't want to play, he doesn't want to. No need to tell him to 'grow up', or 'get out and play'.

However, his younger brother and musical foil Dave, with whom he started the group in 1963, may not join the reunion due to their ever-fractious relationship. “Dave’s invited to the party, but if he doesn’t want to do it, [the reunion] will happen anyway,” reveals the singer. “He’s very welcome to turn up if he wants. I’d much rather work with him than without him.”


The group – who last played together in 1996 – met last summer to discuss a reunion, in anticipation of the 50th anniversary this autumn of their breakthrough hit, You Really Got Me. But strained relations between the Davies brothers have postponed a Kinks get-together until next year. Meanwhile, Ray has been recording new Kinks material with original drummer Mick Avory, to which Dave has yet to contribute.

Asked if The Kinks without Dave would actually be The Kinks, Davies replies, “Yes, it would. I think it’s all down to the music. If somebody can’t or won’t play, there are other players out there. Mick and I want to do it.”

In our exclusive interview, Davies also discusses the new album he’s writing as a companion piece to his 2013 book Americana: The Kinks, The Road And The Perfect Riff, and the shows he’s playing in September based around the 50th anniversary of You Really Got Me.

just to make it clear on another forum it has been proven ray and dave own the name and no way can either one tour as the kinks without the other ones permission

This is an incredible set overall but only interested in discs 3 & 4. Are these at some point going to be sold separately (like Beatles stereo remasters)? If I can get only two or three of these would be great.

That makes me sad...they would be great to see again.
