I'm playing the CD in my car - I don't even know what the title is of most songs grinning smiley

If I tell you today, it'll be different tomorrow - though Suspicious and Just A Gift are up there in the lead right now, and Nothing On Me is still not in the running. I've got the album on the car stereo, and whichever track is playing when I stop the car stays with me on Earworm Radio for the rest of the day.

(Right, third time lucky - I've been trying to post this just as bv is merging the thread and keep getting booted out back to the Forum List)

Robbed Blind is one of the highlights of his new record and will stand out as one of his greatest ballads, imo.

NOTHING ON ME was probably the track that really didn't hit me at first. Now I love it. JUST A GIFT made me an emotional wreck as well as my wife and still remains my favorite but I truly love every song on this album

If you're asking me for ONE favorite, okay,
'Something For Nothing'
grabbed me out the gate.
Honestly, it rings and feels close to Exile. The Harlem choir is magnificent,
Stones and choirs always, always work for me, too.
But the whole album is a treasure. Truly.

We see it now , they will see it one day

A friend of mine heard the "sound opinions" radio show where the two critics reviewed "Crosseyed Heart". According to him both critics really bashed it.
Personally I've written off their opinions years ago. One of the critics
seems to have some sort of personal vendetta against any Rolling Stones
related product or concert. Once I realized this I lost all respect for
their opinions.

http://www.soundopinions.org/show/514i

I think Jim is spot on. Personal vendetta? They are both huge fans.

Sounds like Jim hasn't been a fan since c. 1972/73.

"The Rolling Stones, solo and together, have been letting us down three times longer than they were good"!

Sounds a bit tongue-in-cheek anyways...

Jim is, or was, the concert reviewer for Chicago Sun times and has written some
some shockingly nasty reviews of the Chicago Rolling Stones shows. Certainly not
somthing even a casual fan would write.

The beginning sounds so near and quiet, like in a church. And as soon as the chord changes it really grooves! Magnificent!

Mick was particularly funny when talking about Steven Tyler. :E I can't find it on the site at the moment, though.

I also remember Mick being surprisingly catty when discussing U2's PopMart tour in the late 90's. It was the one with a giant lemon as part of the stage, and Mick joked that the whole tour could be considered "two lemons".

Same here KRiffhard thumbs up, most of these songs are sang in such an understated way, Keith really does show that less is more.
Lover's plea certainly grows each time i listen, i honestly have not played an album through without wanting to skip a song since i don't know when.

Robbed Blind - stunning.

Seriously LOVE the whole album bar Substantial Damage which SOUNDS horrendous, a good song, with the wrong sound.

And don't care AT ALL for Goodnight Irene.I don't get others' love for it. It's a dirge. There, I said it. No-one agree?

And SOME of the SOUND of the drumming??? Mmmmm, a little like Jordan's thumping a cardboard box, not a set of skins.

But gee, overall, what I wouldn't give for The Stones to release an album of this (almost fully sustained) quality.

I agree. Goodnight Irene does absolutely nothing for me. The drum sound is worse on TIC and MO, imo. On TIC he is sounding like banging garbage cans.

I dont like the unsatisfying fade-out on Illusion, they should have ended that beautiful song in another way.
